Dear Superintendent of Clinton Township Schools,

I am writing to express my interest in the open teaching position you currently have in the third
grade at Round Valley School. My name is Robert Lovering and I am very close to graduating
from Drexel University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. I learned about the open position
through Applitrac on NJ.com and knew immediately I wanted to apply.

I am currently working as a school custodian in the Clinton Township School District and have
been there for seven years. I have also recently finished up my student teaching experience
within a fourth grade classroom. I am the right candidate for this position due to my knowledge
of not only the school district, but just of school environments in general. I feel this to be a major
attribute as I am well aware of what constitutes proper behavior and communication skills within
a school community. Although I am just beginning my teaching career, I feel I am in possession
of skills which make me the best choice. While researching the district, I could not help but
notice the mission statement for the district given on the website and how well it aligns with my
core beliefs within my teaching philosophy. Giving each and every student the opportunity to
achieve excellence through a challenging yet supportive environment is exactly how I feel is the
best way to help every student succeed. During my time as a student teacher, I was able to
effectively not only communicate with students but also relate to them, allowing me to best
provide them with the best opportunities to succeed. I have learned the value of seeing every
student as the great potential they possess and thrive on working hard in order to help them
achieve this.

When I made the decision to go back to college and pursue a degree in teaching elementary
education, it was because of the immense adoration I felt for the teachers that I witnessed day in
and day out doing everything they could to help their students succeed. I have witnessed this
within your school district and feel I would make and excellent addition to an already excellent
staff. I am eager to begin my teaching career and am positive that if given the opportunity to be
an educator within the Clinton Township School District, I would be an effective teacher and a
valuable member of the educational community as a whole.
