Industry Profiles are in depth documents that give insight into an industry,
where it came from, and where it appears to be going. A typical report looks
at the industry leaders, forces affecting the industry and financial data for the
industry.

1935, Kemper Built a working linear induction

1945-49, Laithwaite First full size working model of
linear induction motor.
The foundation of electric motor invention was only laid after battery,
magnetic fields from the electric currents and electromagnet made their way.
Throughout the world there were many inventors who passionately work
towards developing solutions to the electrical science field.
The first electrical motor is known to have been a simple electrostatic motor
fathered by Andrew Gordon in 1740s. Later in 1820, Andre -Marie Ampere
discovered the Ampere’s force law. This idea was further shaped into a
reality by British chemist and Physic, Michael Faraday.
In the year 1821 British scientist Michael Faraday explained the conversion
of electrical energy into mechanical energy by placing a current carrying
conductor in a magnetic field which resulted in the rotation of conductor due
to torque produced by the mutual action of electric current and field. Based
on his principle the most primitive of machines a DC (Direct Current)
machine was designed by another British scientist William Sturgeon in the
year 1932. But his model was overly expensive and wasn’t used for any
practical purpose.
In 1905, Alfred Zehden described linear induction motor that could be used
in the lifts or trains in a patent form. And it took around thirty years from
then for kemper to build this linear induction motor for use in 1935. This
motor was further improvised by Laithwaite. He was the one to introduce
first ever full-sized working model of this induction motor.
Electric motors are the essential of every industry in India. AC and DC type
electric motors are integral parts of Electric parts of electrical equipment
industry in India. However, the electric motors also use for domestic purpose.
Agriculture and industrial sectors are the main consumers of electric motor
industry in India consuming more than 75 percent of the consumption.

The demand for energy efficient motors from end user industries such as
power and energy, automobile, and others has been strong. However, they
are demanding energy efficient electric motors to reduce their energy costs.
Additionally, such engine also reduces the carbon emission, which help
companies to meet their sustainability goals. Also, some government have
imposed strict regulations that will increase the demand for energy efficient
electric motors in the future.
• Rise in prices
The increase in global steel prices is expected to increase the price of electric
motors by 15% to 20% by 2022. Such changes will affect the prices of
motors related to efficiency standards. Though the price of energy efficient
electric motors might increase, buyers can reduce their energy costs.
• Customised electric motor
The supply market of electric motors is highly fragmented due to the
presence of several regional and global suppliers, which intensifies the
competition. To increase competitiveness, suppliers are customising their
electric motors to differentiate their products and provide products according
to the needs of buyers. Consequently, buyers require customised products to
avoid compatibility issues such as load efficiency.
• Increased production of high power to weight ratio motors
Industrial buyers from the automobile, electronic device, and aircraft sector
are focused on reducing the overall weight of their product without
compromising on functionality and power. As a result, they demand motors
with high power to weight ratio. For instance, in aircraft manufacturing, the
use of electrical drives in aircraft up to 2.20 ton had a limitation in take-off
weight because of the high weight of the electric motor. This issue can be
addressed by the use of a high power to weight ratio electric motors.
