Personal Reflection

When I first started to do research on what I wanted to learn in college I quickly realized

I wanted to do something pertaining to the health network. I realized that I did not want to

become a doctor and quickly ruled out nursing as well. I then stumbled upon the broad topic of

pharmacy. I was exceptional at chemistry and this feels like a career that would be a good fit for

me. With many different areas of study in pharmacy job outlook is ever increasing and what I do

with my degree is up to me. One thing I have done to help further my understanding of pharmacy

is by shadowing pharmacists at the UPMC Passavant Hospital. Here I discovered what

pharmacists do daily in a hospital setting. Overall it was a great experience and it helped me

learn what pharmacists actually do in the hospital setting.

Some characteristics of mine that will help me succeed in this area of study include my

work ethic and my ability to manage time effectively. Pharmacy is a very difficult field of study,

saying this there might be some material that challenges me, or I find difficult to understand.

Instead of giving up I will work hard to understand the material and get good grades. With the

pharmacy the work load I will be receiving every night will be hefty. I will manage my time

wisely and use my free time to study up on the topics I am struggling to understand.

Faith is something I take seriously and something that helps guide me on my path

through life. Obviously before I outright pick pharmacy to be what I do for the rest of my life, I

will pray on the topic. This will give me a better sense of peace and help me decide if this is what
I am called to do in life. If it sits well I will know for sure this is my calling, if not then I will

look around for other fields of study that interest me, but not completely push pharmacy out of

the picture.
