1 Scope and Purpose
This document is the Software Release Summary for the new LinkView software. This document contains a
summary of the tests performed and the test results for the new software. Table 1 below lists the details of the
new software.

3 New Features

3.1 Changes from LinkView version 2.0 to 2.1, Table 2

Table 2  Changes from LinkView version 2.0 to 2.1

SPR Number Title/Text
1210 ADD FULL TX RANGE TO ATPC AS OPTION

[Certain customers] have requested the option to allow

ATPC to operate over the entire Tx range, not just
+10dB.

Therefore, we need to add in the OPTION to select the

maximum Tx power for the ATPC not to exceed. This
way, the customer has the ability to select their own
maximum Tx power level.

This also needs to be backward compatible. If a Tx

Power level is not specified, then the MAXIMUM
range is the default.

The IDU codes for 2/4x, 4/8x, E3/DS3 need to be

updated, as will LinkView.

LinkView should include a tab for ATPC (present only

if this option is installed). There should be a selection
(by arrow) for the maximum ATPC level not to exceed
based on the radio performance (in other words, the
max Tx power measured on the radio should
correspond with the maximum allowed setting).

LinkView should gray out the setting if the IDU code

does not support this feature.

The initial priority is 4/8x and E3/DS3 and LinkView.

CHANGE: DS3 is highest priority, then 4/8x.

Alvaro Erickson, September 21, 2000 Page 2 of 9

XPView will not be updated for this.

This has been implemented in 2x/4x radios.

This has been implemented and tested on DS3, E3,

and 16x links.
1238 LinkView: Need name change to DMC Stratex
Networks

With the change of the company to DMC Stratex

Networks from Digital Microwave, a similar change
needs to be made for LinkView.

Changes should be made in the splash screens, the

About box, the print preview window, and
configuration printouts.
1244 LinkView 2.0: LinkView needs to see who has RF
loopback

LinkView needs to be able to tell which ODU's have

the capability to do RF loopback or not. Currently, not
all ODU's have the capability to do RF loopback.

4.3 Tests Performed

Only manual tests were done for this release. All tests were performed using the configurations listed above.

The list of tests done from the XP4 Function Test Procedures, the MSU and the SU Shelf Test Procedures can
be found below in Tables fourteen through sixteen respectively.

4.4 Additional Tests

Alvaro Erickson, September 21, 2000 Page 7 of 9

Tests were done to see if changes (SPR’s) were included in the respective codes. For SPR 1210, what was not
covered in the XP4 Function Test Procedures was protected link testing for ATPC. So, ATPC was tested in
protected links using the links listed in Tables 5 and 7. No problems were found and ATPC was found to work.
For SPR 1238, the startup splash screens and the about box were checked for the name change. For SPR 1244,
LinkView was tested in various setups (see the equipment tables above). Also, part numbers were changed. For
all these changes and setups LinkView worked corrected except for one case (see below for details).

5 Test Results
When testing was done, and one new problem was found. For the results of the test see Tables seventeen
through twenty below.

When LinkView is connected to an offline unit in a

protected system in Hot Standby mode (HSB), ODU
RF loopback is allowed. RF loopback will not work
because the radio is muted.
