Today, classrooms are becoming virtually “online”. As the world develops so does the

technology integration. Parents, students, and teachers want to see more technology being used

in the classroom and that comes with a price. There should be an acceptable use of technology in

the classroom for students and teachers. By establishing rules on how to use technology in the

classroom, this new era of schooling can be effective in all classrooms. Not only will students

learn more about the world and certain subjects but teachers will also learn more about teaching

through technology.

Enforcing acceptable use in the classroom is not hard but it is something that teachers and

administration should enforce. Students tend to have more excitement and self esteem when it

comes to working on assignments that use technology. “Teachers talked about motivation from a

number of different perspectives. Some mentioned motivation with respect to working in a

specific subject area, for example, a greater willingness to write or to work on computational

skills. Others spoke in terms of more general motivational effects--student satisfaction with the

immediate feedback provided by the computer and the sense of accomplishment and power

gained in working with technology” (Effects of Technology on Classrooms and Students). By

enforcing acceptable use in the classroom many teachers saw an increase in student achievement

and a higher satisfaction. Students also want to see immediate results and allowing teachers to

use educational websites can satisfy the needs of the students.

By allowing acceptable use in the classrooms, there is more of a chance to meet the

individualized needs of all the students. “Many in the ed-tech field see new technologies as

powerful tools to help schools meet the needs of ever-more-diverse student populations. The idea

is that digital devices, software, and learning platforms offer a once-unimaginable array of

options for tailoring education to each individual student’s academic strengths and weaknesses,

interests and motivations, personal preferences, and optimal pace of learning” (Harold, B. 2016).

By allowing teachers to use programs that individualized such as this one, students will be given

the extra attention they need and deserve. It would also be easier for teachers to know what

students falling behind or excelling in what subjects and categories.

All in all, there is acceptable use for technology in the classroom. Technology does not

need to be used during all hours of school but allowing teachers to implement certain

applications and websites that enhance a students way of learning has shown an increase of

productivity and confidence. It is a pro for students, teachers, and parents because all of these

people can get immediate results on how a student is doing academically. This is a big step for

schools moving forward in the digital age.
