After each group chooses a key figure in Georgia History, they will conduct research. The students will study
who their person was, what they did, and how it impacts us today. The students can conduct their research
by watching videos, reading web articles, and going to the library. After the students become experts on their
historical figure, they will create a video as a group using iMovie. This project will take approximately 2-3
weeks to complete. The students learning will be assessed by ensuring that every group member spoke in the
video and participated by gathering research. This project allows the students to be creative by giving
students the option to record themselves doing a play or skit, creating a puppet show, make a movie or
commercial, etc. This option of choice extends student thinking to a higher level as it integrates creativity. To
conclude the lesson, each group will present their video to the class. I will assess students based upon their
participation during the research portion of the project and based upon the effort put into their video. I will
provide students with individual feedback on a rubric after they present their video.

MultiMedia Tools
Importance of technology:
A multimedia authoring tool is critical because it allows the students to insert music, captions, pictures, and
videos into their project. This project could also be completed using Adobe Spark. If one did not use iMovie or
Adobe Spark, they would lose the ability to edit their video seamlessly. During the completion of this project,
students will also use the internet to research their historical figure. The teacher will provide students with
educational sites to aid research such as Brainpop.com.
Inspiration:
I will introduce my lesson by showing my students the MP4 that I created
(https://www.dropbox.com/s/cge0vwz90kvhfdy/Georgia%20History.mp4?dl=0).
Reflective Practice:
This activity could greatly impact student learning. Not only will students grasp an understanding of each of
the historical figures in Georgia, but they will use higher-level thinking to create an original product with their
peers. To further this lesson, I would have the students each create a video about a different historical figure.
Then, I would combine each groups video into a large video about key figures in Georgia History. As a whole
class, we could create an introduction and conclusion to the video. Then, we could post this class video onto a
password protected page onto my classroom blog, with parent permission.
