Course Reflection

I learned a lot this semester in English 113B. I can safely say that I have become a

much better writer then when I first came in the class. I have learned a lot from mistakes

and I’m glad I ended up knowing what I did wrong now instead of the future. This

semester had many challenges. I’m in fact surprised that I did not end this semester

with a failure. This is my first semester of college. When I first came in class, I was full

of motivation, ambition, but also fear. Fear that the class will be too much for me and I’ll

end up failing.

As the semester goes on, I started to become more confident and my fear of failing

slowly went away. As long as I paid attention in class, I’ll be fine right? One of the things

that I needed to get used to was creating blog posts using wordpress. This was the first

time I’ve made my own website. Before the class, I never made a blog in my life. The

experience was interesting and I can say the skill I learned from it can possibly be

implemented in the future.

The projects for the class were very interesting. For Project Space, filming

interviews and making a video on YouTube was a first for me. By working with my

peers, we were able to put together a video that exceeded my expectations of

something three students that has zero experience in video editing would make. It

wasn’t the best, but it was better than what I originally expected.

Project Text was really a challenge for me as a writer. I had a lot of brainfart while

writing the essay. I had no idea how I was going to write about the Environmental Crisis

in 8 pages. It was such a huge relief when I figured it out. I started typing non stop. I

wish I was able to fit in more into the essay, but you can only put in so much in 8 pages.

Project text challenged my writing in ways I didn’t think was possible.It showed me that

I’m able to write more pages in an essay. I’m used to six page essays and writing an

eight page essay seemed like an impossible task for me, but now I realize that it’s very

achievable.

In conclusion, English 113B had its ups and downs but I was able to get through it

all in the end. I’m used to taking classes for a whole year so having the class end so

early takes me by surprise even though I already know it was gonna happen. I will miss

the friends that I made in class. The skills that I learned will definitely help me in my

future english classes.
