TOPIC: Purposes of Nursing Theory, Nursing Paradigm, and Florence Nightingale

We tackle about nursing theory. The purposes of nursing theory in Education, Research,

and Clinical Practice. And also the paradigm of nursing the 4 nursing paradigm concept. First is

the person second is health third is environment/situation and fourth is Nursing. We also discuss

the modern nursing which is an art and a science involving the application of knowledge and skills

are related to basic social science, physical science, ethics, contemporary issues and nursing

knowledge. One of the founder of modern nursing is Florence Nightingale that was born on May

12, 1820 in Florence, Italy and died on UK in the age of 90. She was knowns as “the lady with

the lamp” because she was doing the night rounds among injured.

Nursing is caring. I learned that nursing is a divine calling. We should not only focus on

sick patient also in well patient. Serving patient is very important because we as a nursing students

we should promote health, share some knowledge to other people and help other people without

expecting anything in return.

Florence nightingale theory is extremely important in learning nursing because her theory

give us an additional knowledge, skills and good attitude that help us to educate the patient on

how they should balance and manage their healthy lifestyle. Her theory is focusing on nursing

paradigm concept that can give us a comfortable environment or place such as ventilation, warmth,

light, diet, cleanliness, and noise. Which are very important not only to the patient but for us.
