During my time in EDT 180, I have learned a lot about different technologies and the

many different ways that they can be used within the classroom. Although I seemed to have a lot

of troubles with the modules I have found a lot of common themes throughout what I did learn

from them.

The most common theme that I had was learning how to take criticism and trying to

realize no matter how much you worked on your project, you will never have a perfect one. I

learned that a lot through the peer review because even when I put my all into a project that I

thought was perfect, there was still going to be criticisms and suggestions from my classmates. I

think the thing that stuck out to me the most during the modules was how repetitive it was. It was

kind of nice to have a routine with each project, but it got frustrating when we did the same

things over and over again, especially with the same questions over and over. It was hard to have

to think of different answers to the exact same questions even though it was for separate

modules. The only thing that really surprised me about my learning was how uninterested I was

in the class. I think that the class has a really cool concept, but I think somewhere along the way,

it just missed it and ended up making the class very boring. I wish that we could’ve done more

hands-on things in the classroom and had more discussions in the classroom so that we could all

get involved. I also think this would have helped because it would have made everyone a lot

more excited about the modules we were doing.

The biggest problems that I had during the semester were deadlines. I think that this

happened because every month I go through my dashboard and write down all my assignments

for that month on my calendar. Since a lot of the assignments just needed to be shared with him,

I would accidentally forget about a lot of them since they were not on my dashboard. The way
that I got through this was insteading of just looking on the dashboard, looking at what module

we were on and then checking if I had done all the proposals, projects, and reflections. Another

really big problem I had in this class was my computer completely shut down and was broken in

the middle of the semester. This was when we were doing the communications module. I was

unable to do it at all. The way that I fixed that was I took initiative and emailed the grader about

how I should go about it and she agreed to give me at least partial credit. I think that my strategy

has changed not just because of this class, but because of college in general. I have had to learn

how to manage my time by myself and learn how to make myself have the motivation to do

everything.

Before I took this class, I knew that technology would be very prominent in the

classroom, but I did not know how or why I would use certain technologies for the benefit of the

students. I did not know what I could access to make the classroom fun with technologies. Since

I took this class, I have learned a lot of things about technology that I can use in the classroom.

The module that helped the most with this was the IgnitED labs. I learned about a lot of

technologies that would help a lot with special needs students which is who I want to work with

in the future. It has helped me a lot with thinking about technologies and I think that it changed

because I never thought about those kinds of technologies helping with my teaching in the future

until now.

The first module that we did, I was honestly very confused about what was going on and

why we were doing that module. I did not work as hard as I could on it because I did not know

what I was supposed to be doing. But now looking back on the last module that I did, I think that

I have really gotten the hang of it. I knew what I needed to do to get a good grade and I worked
hard on it. I think this is because I really know what was going on within the module. I think that

having the same thing for every module was somewhat beneficial to being able to get better

grades throughout the semester.

Something that I admired about my classmates was that they all seemed to have very

good work ethics. They all seemed to always be on top of their work. They also all gave very

good feedback on modules. They were never mean in their criticisms, instead they were very

informative and all of their comments made sense. I liked having the peer review because you

could get genuine feedback from your peers. They were a set of fresh eyes on your project that

could find things that you would have completely looked over. I think that if I was to try

anything that my classmates do, I would try to adapt their work ethic a lot more over mine. I

think that their work ethics would help me tremendously in EDT and outside of EDT.

If I could go back and change or do over one of my module projects, without a doubt I

would choose to redo the communication module. Like mentioned before I had computer

troubles when we were doing this project and I was not able to get it. I can now turn it in for

partial credit, but I wish that I could have gotten the full credit. I think that I could have

definitely tried harder to find a way to be able to do it, but you live and you learn.

One goal that I would like to set for myself for the next semester is always putting 100%

into my work and classes. This semester was a lot of feeling it all out and jumping straight into

something I had no idea about. I think that this next semester I will know a lot more about how I

personally manage my time, what classes are going to be like, and how I have adapted to college

life. I believe that since I know all these things now, I will be able to put all of my effort into all
of my assignments and classes. I hope that I can achieve that goal because I want to be able to do

my absolute best and succeed in college.
