Summary of Project & Impact

This project is needed within our school and district as it is a low-income community and

Estrella Middle School has 100% of students that are from low income families. With these

demographics in mind we have to take into consideration the resources that are provided to the

students and possibly the resources that parents may not be able to have access to. With various

students in mathematics still struggling with past concepts and sometimes current due to

previously needed concepts not being fully understood there needs to be more of an

implementation in getting the help they need or creating a time for students in which they can

seek that help. A few Project Based Learning activities that students will participate are to create

their own activities/games in which can help tutor, or they feel would interest students to

participate in so that they may learn the content. Students will apply their knowledge and attempt

to come up with ideas for games they can share that would reinforce basic mathematics

knowledge that is frequently used or even the entire concept if they choose to do so and how far

they want to take it. They will also look into resources and see how to organize such a network

and discuss what may be needed in order to create a team to help on another.

Student Impact

There are about 15% of students that are continuing to struggle within class and need

more help apart from instruction as I see in each class. The number in which will be directly

impacted during the initial project would be around the 15% of students from each classroom

which would amount to around 5 students per class, 25 in total. But as this catches on and get

implemented more efficiently throughout the years I expect for the greater population of the

school to be impacted as we grow our network and team in order to help those from all

classrooms.
Teacher Impact

The impact this project would have on teachers would be beneficial and create an

efficient way to help future students. Teachers would be able to survey and organize projects and

gatherings within the team that is created to help students as well as help and receive help in

getting different minds together sharing various perspectives so that every student can learn and

be or even excel the standard in which they are supposed to be in the classroom.

Community Impact

This project would greatly support the community as it can become a widespread concept

and be integrated into various schools in order to further help those who are in similar

communities. This would also benefit and help parents as it can provide them a resource to help

their child and also learn from their students who are participating in taking leadership roles in

the team and support the schools as they learn more within what the goals and purpose of the

project is for. Further down the line this can get recognized on a district level and even become

part of the school in terms of creating some sort of organization or funding the project so

students can have those leadership roles and can help as something they can be recognized for

any future applications or experience in leading an organization type project.
