SYSTEM NAME:

 Light oil Unloading System.

OBJECTIVE:

 To ensure smooth, safe and conscious operating procedure for Light fuel oil unloading and
storage.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION:

 HSD is imported to the site by means of tankers. A truck unloading station consists of
flexible hoses, suction strainers, unloading pumps and manifolds to transfer the truck
contents into the HSD tank. One unloading pump with the capacity of 500 litres per min.
The truck unloading operation is totally manual.

 The volume of the HSD storage tanks is of 100 m3, which corresponds to the fuel
requirement for seven, considering one false start in each start up attempt.

SAFETY CHECKS:

 Ensure all Kind of permit to works are closed.

 Ensure proper earthling is done for all the electrical equipment’s.
 All the pipelines & equipment’s are properly fixed & supported.
 Provision of Jumpers in all the flange joints is available.

 Pump suction valve is in open condition.
 Open root valves of DP Switch
 Close Suction strainer drain valve
 Open root valve of suction pressure indicator
 Close pump casing drain valve
 Open root valve of discharge pressure indicator
 Open pump discharge valve

Following activities to be carried out and ensured, receiving of light oil Tanker

 The truck will be first Gross weighted and from Weigh Bridge Information will be sent to
Control room
 The truck will be positioned outside the Unloading Point and Ensure that the individual
compartment of the tanker is sealed.
 Key number from Invoice will be verified and corresponding key (provided by BP) will be
taken from control room for Opening tanker Manifold lock.
 The truck will be parked in flat surface and allowed to settle for 10-15 min.
 Meanwhile, the calibration certificate with dip level will be checked and validity along with
seal at the bottom of the dip rod will be checked.
 The o/l marking and p/l marking on the dip scale corresponding to each compartment is
checked along with the calibration certificate and Invoice.
 Each compartment level will be checked with Dip scale along with Water paste for
detection of water.
 After position the taker in the unloading point Truck’s engine will be switched off and key
will be taken under engineer’s custody.
 Oil sample from each compartment will be collected for checking the density
 If any discrepancy found in Dip level, the same will be escalated to Shift Incharge and then
the same will be escalated to BP thru HO Purchase.
 Tank level has to be recorded with value by finishing of each compartment in unloading log
sheet.
 Once a low pressure indication comes on the suction side of the unloading pump, stop the
pump
 Record final level of the storage tank, and Close the truck manifold valve
 All the compartments will be checked visually after completion and the truck will be moved
back and forth twice to remove the bottom settled oil.
 After Unloading, the Truck will be tare weighed at Weigh Bridge.
 After completion of tare weight Final weighment slip will submitted to shift Incharge thru
filed operator.
 After verification of the corresponding valves by shift Incharge invoice copy will send to
