Please explain the main characteristics of the five-level leadership suggested

by John Maxwell
There is five-level leadership suggested by John Maxwell. The level number
one is the position level. In this level, the keyword is rights. It means that the
people have to follow a person who has the position because they have to.
That is the only way they can get their paycheck. The position does not make
the person a leader. The people only give the least amount of their energy,
effort, time and ability to the person.
The level number two is the permission level. The keyword in this level is
relationships. The people begin to follow a person because they want to. The
leader will begin to develop relationship skills to be a relational leader. The
leader will listen and observe the people’s need. They learn to have the
attitude of servanthood. They serve their people and they love to serve.
The level number three is the production level. The keyword is results. The
leader in this level has to be effective and productive. By this way, the leader
becomes an example for the people to learn. The people do what they see
and the leader will attract the people to be effective and productive also.
Besides, the leader has to get the momentum because the momentum is a
problem solver. The leader who has the momentum will become easier to lead
the people.
The level number four is the people development level. In this level, the
keyword I think is developing people. The leader has to understand that the
most appreciable assets in an organization is the people in that organization.
The leader growing an organization by developing people. A leader needs to
know the three thoughts on developing people, which is recruiting the right
person, positioning them in right place and finding their strength. A successful
leader discovers what other people are good at and position them well.
The level number five is the pinnacle level. The keyword in this level is
respect. Now the people in the organization are respect to their leader. They
absolute follow the leader because the leader has the qualities and do the
right things as a leader to their people. It takes a long time to reach this level
but it is worth.
In conclusion, leadership is always ongoing, learning, growing process.
2. What are the differences between the third and fifth level of leadership?

In the third level of leadership, the leader is still in the process to become an
effective and productive leader. The leader tries to attract other people to
begin to be productive as the leader did. In other hand, the leader in the
fifth level of leadership already pass through the third level of leadership The
leader already become an effective and productive leader. The people
respect the leader and try to become as good as the leader. The difference
is in the third level, the leader is modeling for the people things they want to
see and attract the people. However, in the fifth level, the people look up
the leader and try to improve themselves to support their leader as they
respect their leader.

Besides that, the leader in the third level is ready to develop and begin to
get the momentum. The leader need momentum to let them look at all the
things in such as better way. The leader tries to create momentum to lead
the people so that they can solve the problem their own. Nevertheless, in the
fifth level, the leader already get through level four so they understand how
to develop people. The people who already developed are respect to the
leader. The people already have the momentum to follow the leader so they
can reach a better achievement. In this time, what is leader has to do is
continue the process of leadership learning. The leader has to keep it up so
the people will always follow with a loyalty heart.
