A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION 10


S.Y. 2019– 2020

CONTENT STANDARD
The learners demonstrate understanding of lifestyle and weight management to promote
societal fitness.

PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learners:

 maintain an active lifestyle to influence the physical activity participation of the


community and society.
 practice healthy eating habits that support an active lifestyle.

LEARNING COMPETENCIES
The learners:

 determine risk factors related to lifestyle diseases (obesity, diabetes, heart disease),
 apply correct techniques to minimize risk of injuries; and
 analyze the effects of media and technology on fitness and physical activity.

I. Objectives

The learners will:

1. explain hip-hop aerobics exercise,


2. perform simple hip-hop aerobics routine to improve cardio-vascular endurance; and
3. appreciate the benefits they can gain as they engage themselves in doing Hip-hop
Aerobics exercise.

B. Learning Activities

1. Priming

“Without Pain, Without Sacrifice, We Have Nothing”

Class, did you know that you’ll find strength


in pain? As without pain, without sacrifice, we would
have nothing. So I want you to feel the pain in this
Warm Up Routine Exercises we will be doing.

Everybody stand and kindly move your chairs


on the sides of this area we are occupying.

chairs on the sides of the gymnasium

Facing forward, make 2 lines per group. So I’ll


be seeing 8 lines from here. Raise your arms forward
then sideward.

Alright, so let’s now start to stretch out our


bodies! Follow each exercises properly until you feel
the pain. Then thanks for the pain as it will make you
stronger!

2. Activity

“Forget Your Troubles, Just Dance”

So now, we will be proceeding to our activity


entitled “Forget Your Troubles, Just Dance”.

Are you familiar with the Just Dance Game in


Arcade?
Yes, Ma’am.
That’s great!

With this activity, you just have to imitate the


dance steps being presented on the screen. Everybody
must dance as I’ll be selecting 5 best dancers that will
receive a prize from me.

Are you ready?


Yes Ma’am!
So forget your troubles and Just Dance!

(The teacher will start to select 5 best dancers


and announce their names after the activity and give
their prizes.)

Hip-hop Aerobics is a form of exercise that

It is a workout that uses choreographed steps and
aerobic movements as you dance to hi-hop music.

Let’s proceed with the Hip-Hop Dance Steps.


Everybody stand! And form 8 lines. Each group must Yes Ma’am.
create 2 lines. Then face here forward. Raise your
arms forward, then sideward.

Let me show you the dance steps first, then


repeat those after me and as I taught you each step.

Hip-Hop Dance Steps

1. Glide Step
 Starting with the right foot, slide to the
right, then slide to the left with left foot.
 Make it single-single-double slide step.
 Extend arms sideward left when sliding
to the right then reverse direction. (The students will follow the
teacher’s instructions)

2. The Turn Step


 Starting with the right foot do a 3-step
turn to the right and snap both fingers
down (cts. 1,2,3,4)
 Repeat starting with the left foot. (cts.

teacher’s instructions)

3. Shoe Tap
 Start with a simple toe tap with the right
foot moving forward closing left to right,
then moving backward (cts. 1,2,3,4).
 Repeat starting with the left foot (cts.
5,6,7,8) (The students will follow the
teacher’s instructions)

4. Box Step
 Cross right foot over left foot, cross left
foot over right (cts. 1,2). Pull right foot
back then pull left foot back (cts 3,4)
 Stomp right foot then punch right arm
downward then reverse side (cts. 5,6)
 Round arms from chest (cts. 7,8)

5. Jumping Jack Changes


 Jump out, extend both arms sideward,
jump in, extend both arms sideward,
jump in, extend both arms upward (repeat
2x) (cts. 1,2,3,4)

6. Hip Roll
 Bend both knees and push hips to the
right then cross step left (ball change)

7. Pump Step
 Starting with the right foot, step side then
close left foot to right foot with arms

5. Application

“Dance to Express, not to Impress”

Alright, with the steps we interpreted, create


your own 2 minutes Hip-hop Aerobics dance
choreography with equipment (it could be a
dumbbell, ball, wand, hoop, or garter, depending
upon the box that will be assigned to each group) as
we will be having our next activity entitled, “Dance
to Express, not to Impress”.

Your props and equipment will be provided to


you. They are just inside these boxes. Each box has
an assigned group number, so the props you will be
using is depending upon your group number. I’ll be
giving you 10 minutes to prepare then afterwards
you’ll be performing that in front.

Your performance will be evaluated by this


criteria:

Creativity 5pts.
Choreography 10 pts.
Total 20 pts.
