As EDT180 comes to a close there is a lot to reflect on. Over the course of the semester,

we have done so many assignments that really helped us familiarize ourselves with technology

and how to make a project look and become more intricate. There were definitely patterns within

the assignments that we did throughout this class. We had to do the actual assignment then do

peer feedback and then do a reflection after each assignment has been completed. I personally

like consistency so I enjoyed how this class was set up. There are many themes and patterns

within technology itself regarding how we use it and what we use it for. I am proud of myself for

familiarizing myself with how to create a creative assignment and incorporating that within

technology. It was a lot different than how classes were in high school because a lot of it was a

pencil and paper and this entire class has been stored on a computer. It is very beneficial as a

first-year student to be in a class like this because of it just kind of prepared me for how the rest

of my classes would go and how all of them are basically using technology and computers

instead of the traditional pencil and paper.

Being that I am not that good or comfortable with using technology, I definitely had some

issues doing some of the assignments because I had to learn how to use the technology before I

was actually able to begin the assignments. For the podcast it was a really complicated process to

complete because there were so many factors that had gone into making it. I had to record myself

and then record my recording onto my laptop and then add music before I could be done. For the
construction module project where we had to make a pathway game, I had to learn how to use

the tools that brought your click to a new slide with new answers. It was pretty cool to learn how

to do all of that though because now I know how to do it if I ever have to again in the future. It is

crucial to ask classmates for help when you are stuck on something because it helps them learn

how to fix the same solution if they too are struggling.

Technology has never really been something I cared for or really felt comfortable with

for that matter. I am a very traditional person and I prefer to do work on paper with a pen. But

this class really helped me break out of my shell and become more familiar an aware of the

different technologies that we are lucky to have and work with. Going to the ignited lab really

opened up my eyes to see how practical certain technology is in the educational field and in the

world in general. I think it is important that we incorporate technology into our daily lives but

not too much until the point where it takes over our lives. I think that we wrap ourselves up in

the world of technology too much and should steer clear from it at times. Getting in tune with

nature and the physical world is really important. But, on the other hand, having resources like

the ones I explored really opened up my eyes to how much technology can improve our world

rather than hurt it. A classroom is a place where it is important to learn something new every day

and I think this technology makes it a lot easier to do so.

I think that if I were to go back and look at my previous assignments and compare them

to the more recent ones that I have done, it would show my change in understanding about the

educational system. I think that I have more valid reasons now as the semester is coming to a

close about why I want to be an educator and how I see myself. I also out a lot more effort into

the later assignments once I became more familiar with technology and what the purpose of this
class is. As I reviewed my peer’s work I saw a lot of ideas that I would want to incorporate into

my future assignments if I had to redo them again. One of my classmates made a layout of what

her classroom in the future would look like and I feel like I would want to make a layout of my

future classroom would look like too. It is really interesting to see how everyone who is doing

the same thing can do it completely differently.

I think that I would change how I went about the assignments. I feel like I kept them

pretty simple and I definitely could have gone into more depth about the projects and chose

cooler and more intricate ways to implement my ideas. I would just change the way I displayed

my assignment in their finishing products.Next semester I really want to be able to handle my

workload in a more efficient way. I had it easy this semester and was not taking a lot of credits

but next semester is going to be a lot different. I ended up with decent grades this semester too so

I am hoping to keep my grades up next semester as well. It is really important to me that my goal

next semester too is to have a healthier mindset. That is something that easily gets stripped away

in college because there is just so much to worry about. So I want to aim to be happier.

After learning about these different pieces of technology, I realized how much more fun

and engaging class would be for me if these resources were available to me. I think it is really

important and necessary to familiarize ourselves with upcoming technology because that is

basically the future of our world. The students that we are going to have in our classroom are

going to be even more equipped with technology than we are as the generation’s progress. I am

really happy that I know about these tools and can possibly incorporate them into my ways of

teaching.
