The topic I want to explore today is Why can't the Government in America restrict

guns. I have found some resources from Google's search engine. As the world's largest search

engine recognized by everyone, the search engine's information is credible, because Google

is the biggest search engine in the world. The author of this article is Leah McKelvey.

Sometimes guns can be used to intimidate people who want to commit crimes and to

protect the victims. In this article, the author gives a simple example to prove the advantages

of citizens' owning guns. If a criminal tries to kill an innocent person, or the criminal tries to

rob, rape... When the victim has a gun, it can scare the criminal and protect himself. Most

people will not do anything against the law after they have a gun, but a small number of

people will use a gun to do something against the law, which is inevitable. If everyone had a

gun it would greatly reduce the crime rate, because in the minds of criminals they are also

afraid of going to prison, they are also afraid of the law, but the thing they most fear is death.

Therefore, the possession of guns by citizens can greatly reduce the crime rate and protect the

personal safety of citizens. On the other hand, the author illustrates his ideas with two graphs.

The second picture shows that the crime rate in Britain has reached a new high after the

control of gun ownership, and the crime rate has increased a lot. Therefore, the crime rate in

Britain increased a lot after the control of gun use. The first chart compares crime rates

between a country that controls guns and a country that does not. Australia is a country that

has always controlled guns, while the United States is a country that has never controlled

guns. It can be seen that the crime rate in Australia is much higher than that in the United

States.

I think the U.S. government if control citizens hold guns will has great influence to

crime, the crime rate might suddenly rise, because the citizens lose a way to protect their life.

Therefore, there will be a lot of bad people want to revenge society, those who want to rape
and robbery party becomes more and more, because they don't have a lot of concerns, the law

might be the only way to stop them, they won't think they will be killed by a gun, they aren’t

going to die. They will be more unruliness. However, the above data and research are not

comprehensive, and each country's cultural differences and historical background will lead to

different results. I think the U.S. government does not control the possession of guns by its

citizens in consideration of the crime rate, but it is not comprehensive.
