PROJECT PLAN

Expression Module

Kylie Delwiche

Description

My philosophy is basically that I want my students at the end of the day to feel like they’re
welcome and want to come back the next day. I want my kids to know I care, and they will have
fun and continue to want to further their education. The basis of my teaching is all around
having a positive mindset and keeping education in that positive atmosphere. This is my
beginning philosophy now, obviously its subject to “change”, grow and add to and all.

Project medium (multimedia)

I chose to do a website. I am using weebly education thanks to Mr. Lewallen for teaching us
how to navigate making our own website for free and easily. I created a new website and
changed the tabs, or pages, to suit my philosophy and added images and such. A snippet from
my philosophy is the following: “I feel all students can learn, but I want them to want to as well. I
want to work with all learning styles, and try to accommodate as many as I can, by creating
bonds with my students and learning about them.”

Potential Benefits of multimedia

I chose a website so I could look at it as long as I want. I can add to it, as my philosophy
changes (if it does) as well. My media can adapt as I do which I think makes it helpful for me
that I can edit as I grow. I wanted a media form that could display my full thoughts without too
much distraction. It gave me space to be as creative, professional, whatever I wanted, which I
like. I can also add any type of media to it as well, images, links, “contact me” boxes, etc. It truly
is like a blank sheet of paper, you start with a template which is helpful and build with whatever
you want to add, it gives you a lot of creative space to work with.

Potential challenges of multimedia

I’m not very technologically inclined, so had I not had Mr. Lewallen’s instructions I might not
have been able to navigate editing the website making myself. I did have some problems
uploading pictures but that was because the only option to upload was from your computer, not
from Photos or Google Drive or anything. Honestly, once you play around with the different
things you can edit with the structure of the website you’re golden. I played with background
colors, images, added a “contact me” submission box, and changed the tabs or pages to my
liking. There were not many challenges involving this media at all, which is why I would
recommend this one most.

Artist statement
I hope my philosophy will not change much from what I have written now. I predict my ideals
won’t change much, but like I mentioned before I am happy with the media I chose so that as
things change my website can change with me and I can add to it, take things out etc. I do one
hundred percent plan on adding to this as I go. I feel not super satisfied with my philosophy
because that may be what I want but that may/ most likely will change when I start student
teaching or taking more education based classes even. I feel I haven’t placed exactly what I
want, and I’m open minded to change and different techniques to learn that I would want to work
in to my classroom. I’m not going to change wanting to create a kind, welcoming environment, I
just see myself growing and adding to what I like to think is my basis/foundation philosophy right
now. I think I will have different perspectives after student teaching than I do now. Not that I
have no experience, I shadowed a Kindergarten class my senior year of high school, but I think
each different experience impacts what I see in my future classroom, and being around different
types of teachers as well. If I did this again ten years from now I’d most likely still use a website,
but I’d have more experience to go off of, so it would sound more wise. Plus I’d have my own
resources to add to it, my class picture or videos about teaching/learning that I like or live by. I’m
excited to get to that point and see what I am like, and how I hold my classroom. This project
has by far been my favorite, because I liked constructing my ideals into my philosophy, and
getting to express it in a way that is comfortable for me. I am happy with my website and I plan
on adding to it as I go.
