PROJECT PLAN

EXPRESSION MODULE
NATALIA BANKOSKI

DESCRIPTION
My multimedia project is going to be going into the philosophy of art
in the sciences, more specifically biological illustration. I’m going to
do this by making a verbal - visual essay, and combining some of the
illustrations I’d do in this career with some of what I think the
science – art world is going to look like in a few years, including the
technologies.

PROJECT MEDIUM (MULTIMEDIA)

My medium for this project is going to be a verbal - visual essay,

most likely on physical paper and then I’ll take a photo to turn it in.
I’ll do an actual biological drawing in the middle and then
information about biological illustration around the outside. To make
my paper product I’ll use colored pencils, pens, and paper. If I chose
to do it electronically I’ll use a painting app on my laptop called
PAINT.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF MULTIMEDIA

The media I’m using for this module is perfect because I’m able to
express my future career philosophy artistically in a way that will be
most interesting for me and I believe my viewers. I want to be an
illustrator so I more artistic choice for this project is perfect.
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES OF MULTIMEDIA

The challenges of doing a visual essay to portray this is that because

it’s more visual and interpretive, the message I’m trying to get
across may not be as obvious so I’m going to make it as out there as
can while using my artistic abilities. A lot of people use visual essays
to get a point across, and it seems like something that could be used
in my future career path as a biological illustrator.

DRAFT / COMPLETED PROJECT OUTLINE (OR STORYBOARD)

What I plan on doing for my project is making a visual essay with a
biological illustration in the middle and then maybe my main points
around it, as long as some other smaller visuals. I’m going to make it
on an app on my laptop and the whole thing itself is going to be a
visual.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m most likely not going to be an educator when I get older so here
is my prediction of scientific illustration in 10 years. I think
illustration especially in science is going to be pretty much all on
computers and electronic devices. There won’t be need to do art on
paper anymore except for fun maybe because otherwise it’ll be
harder to do useful things with it. What people are starting to do
with scientific illustrations is turning them 3D then making 3D models
with them. This is just now a recent thing but I’m sure that will be a
lot more common in 10 years from now.
