Northeast Florida Scholastic Art Awards

Call for Submissions! Visual Art Categories


The submission window for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards opened on Thursday,  Architecture &
September 12th. This submission window is open for the Northeast Florida region Industrial Design
(encompassing Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. John’s, Union, and Volusia Counties)  Ceramics & Glass
and is open until 11:59PM Thursday, December 12th, 2019.  Comic Art
Students can submit work created anytime in 2019! Teachers and students can register at:  Design

What is Scholastics?  Editorial Cartoon
For 96 years, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the exceptional  Fashion
vision of our nation’s youth. Established in 1923 by Scholastic Inc. founder Maurice  Film & Animation
R. Robinson, the Scholastic Awards have grown to become the nation’s highest  Future New
honor and largest source of scholarships for creative teens. Through a nationwide
partner network of more than 100 Affiliates, the 2019 Awards received 340,000

submissions spanning 29 categories of art and writing. All students in grades 7  Mixed Media
through 12 (age 13 and up), whether in public, private, or home schools, can  Painting
submit original works.

What is NEFSAA?  Printmaking
NEFSAA or Northeast Florida Scholastic Art Awards is the regional affiliate for the  Sculpture
national Scholastic Art Awards. NEFSAA handles the regional adjudication, awards,  Video Game Design
and art exhibition as well as securing college scholarship opportunities for regional
 Art Portfolio
winners. NEFSAA Award winners collected over $20 million in college scholarship
offers between 2017-2019! Gold Key winners at the regional level go on to the Visual Art Category
national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. Descriptions

Submission Information NEFSAA Events


1. Teacher and Students create an account. Award Events will take place
2. Student submits their work digitally (with image(s)/files). on February 8th, 2020 in
3. Print, fill out, and sign submission form(s). Downtown Jacksonville
4. Upload, mail or deliver submission form and submission fee ($7 for individual
entries and $25 for senior portfolio entries) to the Art Resource Center 10AM: Art Awards
(address below). at the Florida Theatre
Once submitted, work is separated according to student age range and medium,
then adjudicated by local artists, art professionals, and art educators. 1:30PM: Award Exhibition
Work is adjudicated according to three open:
categories:
Jacksonville Public Library
• Originality
(Individual Gold Key Work)
• Technical Skill Senior Portfolio TBA
• Emergence of Personal Vision/Voice (Gold & Silver Key Portfolios)
