INQUIRY MODULE

DESCRIPTION
First off I would like to say that I want to be a History teacher for
middle schoolers. I love history and everything behind it. Starting
from where people came from, to the presidents, and then to the
wars and civilizations. History is a subject everyone should enjoy, we
may talk about the past and how we became where we are today,
however it can teach you a lot and some of the things are worth
looking into. I am not a big technology person when it may come to
my career because I’m not really sure that any of these technologies
will be very useful in my area of teaching but if there is something
out there that may help students to learn more in depth about
history then let’s go for it.

SUBJECT AREA OF INTEREST

The subject that I chose is I will be teaching history and I chose it
because that’s what I am good at and I love history with a passion I
know so much about it and I would love to teach it. There is so
much history out there where I still am learning today. And
sometimes learning history is how we connect and understand where
we come from and how we improved living since then.
IGNITED LABS TECHNOLOGY AREA (AI)

I chose to use the Google kit for my Artificial Intelligence because it

can help me on day in my classroom. It may not seem like it but
Intelligent assistant solutions can also help teachers analyze student
data and alter lesson plans to best benefit their classes. They can
help but not replace teachers with their students learning.

1. How do you think this technology will (or will not) change the
way people learn within your subject area?
Answer: This technology can change the way students learn
from this subject area is because I think this piece of
technology can have a positive impact on the way they might
be learning. It gives them a second opinion or voice when it
may come to trying a certain area in this certain subject.
Overall Google Voice is a like a friend that knows everything
and can be supportive and helpful in difficult times when it
comes to trying to learn something new.

2. What are some of the shortfalls of this technology currently?

What advancements (technologic or otherwise) are needed for
this technology to reach its potential to transform the way we
learn?
Answer : Some of the shortfalls of this technology is the
privacy that is not subscribed with it. Nowadays like Amazon
has access to peoples information and sometimes sells it for
money and that’s a big concern about the technology. Because
then there will be hackers and imagine just knowing your
information is out there should make you concern because
then people can steal identities and honestly a lot can happen
when people know your information. When talking to it
someone can also try to have the same voice as you and if

 they can get into your privacy then they will have access to
everything and at that point what more can you do.

3. Describe how this technology might be utilized (for good or

bad) outside of its original intended purpose? Do you foresee
anything we should be wary of?
Answer: This piece of technology can be used for many other
purposes then besides in the classroom. It can be used in the
house and on your phone, technology these days are changing
real quick and new things are becoming invented within
seconds. So expect something new each year. Since
technology is changing we have to evolve and change with it.
So different resources equal more opportunities.

IGNITED LABS TECHNOLOGY AREA (XR)

What I chose for XR is Virtual Reality (VR), with the smart glasses. I
believe and feel with those students can figure out a whole new
world beyond what they imagined. However smart glasses are
limited rarely anyone has it since everyone is at work

1. How do you think this technology will (or will not) change the
way people learn within your subject area?
Answer: How I think that this technology will help change the
way the students are learning this subject is because what if
we show ways or strategies to show the students and help
them learn history through a different perspective if me just
teaching them is not enough. There are many videos and
drawings that can come to life that can show the students of
what it was like to live in their time and what it has taught us
as a nation or civilization.

 2. What are some of the shortfalls of this technology currently?
What advancements (technologic or otherwise) are needed for
this technology to reach its potential to transform the way we
learn?
Answer: Some disadvantages are they will probably only be
used in class where you can not take it home or anything,
however they are extremely expensive and when students use
them someone would have to be watching them because they
can be easily broken if not taken care of. Some advantages are
they can easily see clearly and maybe learn the subject more if
they can visually see it. Technology is changing so we should
be taking advantage and be able to be changing with it so we
can utilize our resources to help us learn and present better.

3. Describe how this technology might be utilized (for good or

bad) outside of its original intended purpose? Do you foresee
anything we should be wary of?
Answer: How this type of technology might be utilized is
helping my students to look at the way of learning from a
different aspect or perspective. Students can not always be
taught one way then they get it. Some learn by visually,
hearing, or different senses combined together. And with these
different versions of learning these glasses can play a huge
role in how the students take this information and utilize it in
their everyday learning.

IGNITED LABS TECHNOLOGY AREA (IOT)

The IOT I will be using is Microsoft Azure. The Azure Internet of
Things (IoT) is a collection of Microsoft-managed cloud services that
connect, monitor, and control billions of IoT assets. This can be very
useful in a classroom setting more for the teacher then the students.

Because it creates some background for the teacher and gains
knowledge for them too.

1. How do you think this technology will (or will not) change the
way people learn within your subject area?
Answer: The way I see it, is that its more for the teachers
knowledge rather than the students because it builds insight
and perspective in a way to build things and manage your time
on the computer when the students are doing their work.
Opens a new source of mind for the teachers and helps them
with their developing skills and the way they think about
applications when they are being used by them.

2. What are some of the shortfalls of this technology currently?

What advancements (technologic or otherwise) are needed for
this technology to reach its potential to transform the way we
learn?
Answer: Some shortfalls of it is that its not always beneficial
and there are gonna be times when your internet might go
down and you can not use it because the lack resource of the
internet. However there are more advantages of this source
then disadvantages. Because Azure can build, deploy, and
manage your applications while building on it. It provides
professional developer and designer tools, software, and
services from Microsoft to your faculty and students. Educators
and students get access to our products and technologies,
giving them choices for current and future educational
opportunities. The ability for schools, institutions, labs, and
their faculty and students to install the software on their

 personal computers for use in their coursework and
development projects

3. Describe how this technology might be utilized (for good or

bad) outside of its original intended purpose? Do you foresee
anything we should be wary of?
Answer: With this Azure feature, students can gain visibility to
security across both on premise and cloud networks. Users can
automatically deploy standardized security measures when on-
boarding new applications. Any security threats can be
immediately remediated either using built-in Azure security
assessments or proprietary assessments. Scaling involves a
system adapting to a change in the amount of workload or
traffic in a given application. This involves both increasing or
decreasing application flows. One of the greatest features of
Azure is its flexibility to scale. Scaling cloud networks involves
creating or assigning servers to an application. With Azure,
scaling is logistically simpler than with traditional hosting as
primary servers do not need to be taken down. With
cybersecurity and risk management remaining at the forefront
of IT and business, disaster recovery is key for cloud services.
Azure prioritizes disaster recover through unprecedented
coverage in regional and global fail-over options, hot and cold
standby models and rolling reboot capabilities.

RESEARCH CONCLUSIONS

How these new technologies will help me and my students for the
future when I am teaching is it will give them different perspective
and ideas of what they can learn from and how they could
comprehend from it. Technology is starting to play a big role in
society ad the education system. That students are starting to have
the resources at hand when it comes to learning the way their brain

tells them to. Nowadays there are a lot of resources that help
students or mostly anyone to take in the learning or skills and apply
it to the way they will benefit from it.

These technologies can help in my area of subject is because history

is from the past and the students can learn from their past failures
and there is so many videos it there that are being displayed and
shown to help you understand the meaning and importance behind
all of it. It connects you to your way of learning and benefits your
needs and aspects of what you want to learn from it. Each day
people are realizing that some things benefit them when it comes to
learning and some things just don’t work for them. With technologies
the have hands on and different skills that can be processed to help
them understand the way their brain tells them to think and how
they should go about it.

PERSONAL LEARNING EXPERIENCE

My experience with all these technologies that are being used these
days is that it was eventful and was an opportunity for me to set
how these devices work first hand. However I did not get to go to
the IgnitedLab I did go to Fry’s electronic and I went to the mall for
the smart glasses for virtual reality. And for the IOT my mom works
at a certain department where I can not tell the name of, however
she was able to take me to ad see their developing devices of
technology. The virtual glasses was worth an experience because
just by putting the glasses on you were able to see touch the objects
that were in front of you even though you weren’t really touching
them it was just an amazing experience to see what reality could
look life when things just come at you or come to life. The google
voice kit is like a google home where you can just talk to it and you
would be able to get answers from that itself was just a whole
different level. Technologies these days are just an experience and is

filled with different aspirations and perspectives that each day its
changing and you just have to keep up with it and see what’s new.
