MY DISICIPLINE
Global Affairs is a discipline that includes various aspects. From the name itself we can
tell that this course consists of various aspects of international relations, foreign policy, diplomacy
and the interconnection between nations in the world. This discipline teaches is that no nation is
an island, that is to say in order to thrive and survive states need to interact and relate with one
another. Students who offer Global Affairs are likely to be involved in world issues, government,
politics and organizations. The job opportunities for Global Affairs students are broad, for a Global
Affairs student who is well qualified acquiring a job in governmental organizations and non-
governmental organizations like the United Nations, World Health Organization, IMF and so forth
is highly possible. People who study Global Affairs are also likely to become ambassadors or
politicians. For a Global Affairs student being multilingual is important but not necessary, however
The George Mason University Global Affairs program is effective and efficient with over
30 professors. George Mason is also one of the few schools in the United States that offers Global
Affairs as graduate course. As a Global Affairs student in George Mason we are required to go for
a study abroad program in foreign countries. The purpose of this is to provide the students with
proper experience from different country, understand their politics and system. The Global Affairs

globalization.
ONLINE PORTFOLIO
For this course EAP 506 we are required to create an online portfolio which gives us a
deeper insight on our discipline. The creation of our online portfolio enables us to not online
sharpen our research skills, it also teaches us how to create a website and also sharpen our writing
skills. The online portfolio consists of the welcome statement, professor analysis, journal analysis,
journal article analysis as well as a language analysis. The welcome statement is to give my
viewers an understanding of my course and serves as a brief introduction. For the professor
analysis we carried out an extensive research on a professor in our department, this would give us
knowledge on what it is like to be a well-read scholar in Global Affairs, as well as understand the
requirements and achievements to be successful in this field. Journal analysis and journal article
analysis helps us to understand more about journals and articles in our discipline, understand the
citation and writing styles, requirements for publications and so forth. The language analysis helps
us as students to understand language styles and how writers in our fieldwork on their articles.
