PODCAST PLAN

PODCAST TITLE
KYLIE GOODMAN OCTOBER 9TH, 2019

DESCRIPTION
This podcast, named Crime Time is all about bringing light to the
most insane murders documented to this date. In each episode I will
dive into the story of every unknowing victim, deadly killer, and the
gruesome acts that follow them. Each case ranges in victimology,
style of crime, and spontaneity. Some of these chilling murders are
notorious stories of famous killers and some may be stories you've
never heard before, until now.

TITLE OF PODCAST
Crime Time with Kylie

PODCAST TOPIC

The story and the solving of different documented murders.

GENRE OF PODCAST
This podcast could fit under any/all of the three following categories:
society, government, and science. Every victim and killer each have
their own backstory usually detailing some sort of wrongful act,
revenge plot, or mental illness. All subjects that relate to society as a
whole and give any listener the ability to empathize. These crimes
are also documented, some solved and some unsolved, meaning that
they involve law enforcement of some crime. A pretty large group of
them later on become court cases and are taken to trial to be rung
through due process by the government. Lastly, I chose science
because I detail the solving procedures of every case including any
kind of forensic evidence and testing.

DESCRIPTION OF HOST

This podcast is hosted solely by college student and aspiring teacher

with an eye for detail, Kylie Goodman. Kylie's love for sleuthing and
telling spooky tales began at a young age and followed her to
adulthood. She herself is a fan of murder mystery and unsolved
podcasts, documentaries, or TV series'. Desperate to find out the
truth for the sake of these victims, Kylie often spends her time
researching cases both local and global. Her firm belief is that people
deserve to have their stories told, thus Crime Time with Kylie was
born.

ESTIMATED LENGTH OF SHOW

Due to the sheer amount of storytelling and factual information I am

sharing, this podcast would likely be 60-80 minutes long. This also
depends on the story, because the extra long and detailed cases
would be broken into two seperate 1 hour recordings. While the
easier solved cases can most likely be fit into a single 1 hour and 20
minute recording.

PROPOSED FREQUENCY OF SHOW

This podcast would provide listeners a new episode every week.

Although I personally would listen to it every day, most cases require
extensive research which usually takes a few days to collect. As the
writer and host of this podcast I also understand that the subject
matter is sensitive therefore I want to go at each case with a fully

2
educated outlook. There is a consistent "quality over quantity"
outlook when it comes to content at Crime Time with Kylie.

PODCAST FORMAT STRUCTURE

Every podcast will follow the structure below. I have chosen this
structure because most of the content is a chronological storyline.
Beginning with a personality synopsis and brief look into the life of
each person involved. Next explaining the backstory leading up to
the crime for context. Then the details of the timeline and crime
scene of each murder, and the steps they took to solve it (if they
solve it of course). And lastly the aftermath including trial dates, jury
decisions, and prison sentences. After the telling of the story I follow
with a question time and "better idols" to boost audience interaction,
and a sneak peek of the next crime I will cover.

1. Intro music with a warm welcome

2. Introduction of today's case/ brief overview
3. Killer synopsis then victim synopsis
4. Backstory and crime context
5. Details of the murder and crime scenes
6. The Solving and the Aftermath- forensics and trial description
7. The Interrogation- listener questions + comments
8. Better Idols- a charity suggestion to donate to/do-good story
9. The Clues- a preview for next episode
10. Goodbyes and outro music

SCRIPT VS OUTLINE

In the realm of true crime storytelling, I believe it would be best to

stick to more of a script or timeline type of script as opposed to a
loose outline. Normally a podcast would be more open discussion or
witty banter between hosts in between topics. However, I am telling
the stories of real life murders that occured and I want to get the

3
stories right. I don't plan on repeating a script word for word
because I want to keep it interesting and subjective, but I want to
ensure that the timeline and details are clear enough to follow
without having a visual to aid me. In my eyes, most of the
storytelling aspect of each case should be as accurate as possible
just purely out of respect for the families and friends of the victims.

COVER IMAGE

The cover art for my podcast was created to reflect the spooky tone
of the podcast itself. It’s dark and twisted with a little hint of blood
red text to make it stand out against the foggy woods. The art is
clean but eery, thus accurately reflecting what the shows content is
about.

4
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS RATIONALE

This podcast would likely need a lot of trigger warnings in the

beginning if it were ever to come to fruition. Therefore I will try my
best to write one into the notes because, although I said this
already, I only want to tell the story from a place of respect for the
victims, survivors, and families involved.

I am aware that true crime and gruesome murder is not exactly

everyones jam. However, most people who are fans of true crime
can hold a verbose conversation so I attempted to choose a lesser
known case to discuss as an attempt to keep it interesting. With that
being said, I couldn’t really dive into any cases that weren’t the
slightest bit popular because of content limitations. It was so much
harder to find case details and background information for cases that
weren’t famous/didn’t get any media coverage.
