Portfolio Artifact Description: Dream Home: Using drawing tools to create a 2-dimensional
layout of a home.

What You learned: The Dream home project was a lot more enjoyable then I expected it to be.
I started out with only having the standard rooms. As I got more into creating my house, I
became able to think of things that I would really love to have. The difficulty was on par with
what I expect because of the last two projects. I feel like this project came out the best and
believe that is because I genuinely enjoyed this one. I learned about features of my drawing
program that I didn’t know existed. I didn’t know drawing programs had an angle option for a
drawing, or a translucent option surrounding for selection items. I probably never would have
taken the time to look for them had this project not been assigned.

National Educational Technology Standards for STUDENTS (NET-S) Addressed: Standard #1

Creativity and Innovation – Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and
develop innovative products and processes using technology.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: I think this was a fun and challenging assignment.
It would be wonderful to implement this assignment into a Math class. Children could measure
out their designs in order to structure their home properly. Additionally, this would make a
wonderful English assignment. Students could draw what their imagination sees from a book
they’ve read or from a story they’ve created. If the student created a in detail drawing
correlated to a story they are going to write, students would be more invested in the “boring”
part of the assignment.
