Section 2: Company Description

2.1 We choose cooperative as a legal structure of our

business to pursue and share our goals we could not

achieve alone, we must work for the common good. A

cooperative is an independent association of women and

men united voluntarily to meet common social, cultural

needs and aspirations through a jointly owned and

democratically controlled enterprise. In this cooperative,

members joined to enjoy the benefits of group purchasing

and the empowerment of owning and controlling the

cooperative.

This cooperative was founded for us to be able to gain

and avail a fair share of risk and benefits. In the product that

we innovated each members shared the capitals that was

needed to produce its quality and share responsibilities on

endorsing and marketing the product. Several advantages of

cooperative are as follows;

A. Social utility- it promotes personal liberty, social justice

and mutual cooperation. Cooperative undertakings also

serve as a training ground for self-government.

B. Cheaper and better supply- Cooperative societies supply

better quality goods at cheaper rates.

C. Low operating costs- The office bearer of a cooperative

society offers honorary service. Therefore, cost of

management is low. Cash trading avoids bad debts and

there is no need to maintain huge stocks.

D. Democratic management- management of a cooperative

society is fully democratic. Every member has an equal vote

or voice irrespective of his capital contribution.

E. Open membership- any person having a common interest

can become members of a cooperative society and can

leave the society at his own pleasure.

F. Ease of formation- it is quite easy to form a cooperative

society. Little time and money required. The legal formalities

are every few and simple.

G. Limited Liability- the liability of every members is limited

to the extent of his share in the society’s capital. Therefore,

the risk faced by every member is limited and known.

H. Continuity and stability- after registration, a cooperative

society becomes legal entity. The death, insolvency of a

member does not affect its existence; therefore, it enjoys

continuity of operation.
I. Internal financing- a large part of the profit of cooperative

society is transferred to general reserve every year.

Therefore plugging back of profits facilities the expansion

and growth of the society.

J. State patronage- the government provides several

concessions to cooperative societies in the matter of taxes,

finance, etc. A cooperative society enjoys special privileges

and exemptions.

2.2 Bicycle had been a common vehicle before

machinery was widely introduced. Man nowadays wished to

have motorcycle rather than bicycle and that’s is the reason

it had been left. Only few are now using it, we can see a lot

of damage bicycle in the junkshops or in the backyards for

most bicycle owners refuse to repair it. In technical sense

bicycle had been very helpful to people with low income in

order for them to travel with less expenses or no expenses

at all although it certain great efforts to use.

2.3 Grass cutter/mower is used in agriculture for how

many decades in such different forms. Farmers have the

most need of this product for them to plant in an area without

grass. Gardeners or even landscaper who uses it was a

great help for them. Before this equipment come to its

existence there are different forms or devices that have

already been invented, produced and distributed all over the

market such as grass shears, grass manual cutter and

commercial mowers. Since we are in a country that gas is

difficult to afford, we need something that doesn’t need

gasoline. A grass cutter/mower in manual form but less cost.

Bicycle had been junked and metals in junkshops can be

into an innovated technology.

Bicycle Grass Mower is a product innovated by BSIT

students with the aim of providing good quality of equipment

that would help people out the expenses spent for mowing

service and to help farmers in cleaning the lands with less

expenses. It is both beneficial for the end-user and the

environment since the equipment does not emit any smoke

and it is a good form of exercise. With this, anybody the

knowledge on how to ride a bicycle can operate it, which

does not require that much skills. This product was made by

the use of junked metals, unused bicycle, tires that can be

found in some backyards and more junkshops. Welding

machines are also necessary to attain such high quality

product. The significance of this agricultural equipment can

be benefited by anyone who plant crops, vegetables or even

in the lawn of our house.

2.4 These different equipment served as an aspiration

why our device paved its way into production. This device

that we make may not be able to replace any of those

machines, but this can be a good option for you in doing

some task at a lower price. As of the moment the product is

not yet widely known for we still collects data and materials

on how to improve the machine.

2.5 The benefit of this product can be an asset to an

easy farming and in agricultural aspects. Since it is done

manually, farmers can save up instead of using gas. Grass

mower is significant in agriculture for it can remove grass

that is a burden to every land they cultivate. A form full of

grass can never be a good land to plant. With the help of this

product, the problem can be solve easily. As we have

discuss, it does not emit smoke so it would be an

environmental friendly device. It doesn’t need gas to operate

so it would be no hassle and no more add up expenses for

the users. In purchasing this product, it takes only one time

expenses and the only thing to do is to maintain its parts at

good condition after using it by keeping it clean and avoid

staining of the bicycle.

Section 3: Products and Services

3.1 Our product aims to give convenience to our

costumer in terms of moving service. And be able to inspire

and give knowledge about mowing less cost. Cooperative

that we have and the product that we innovated can be

beneficial to both members and consumers in such ways.

-Our cooperative always aim for the goodness of our

customers.

-Our cooperative offers as affordable products.

-This product can be used and helpful in agriculture.

-Farmers and Gardeners are the main target of this

product.

-The product can be used in the lawn, rice and corn fields
and grounds.

-No gasoline needed for this product.

-It has less maintenance needed.

-Using the product can also be a good exercise.

-It can do grass cutting/mowing less hassle.

-It can be repair without skills needed.

-This product is easy to clean.

-We produced it with good quality that can last up to

several years.

-This product is open for further innovation.

3.2 Our cooperative has certain advantages over other

business competitors. We exist and operates for the benefit

of our patron members. Since the members are also the

owner of the product and services, we also have the

financial interest in the success of our cooperative which is

agreed towards giving our full support and patronage. And

as cooperative members, all of us have a voice in the control

of the organization and therefore can supply the kind of

product/service we want. These advantages can be an asset

to a strong cooperative. Compared to other commercial

business, they have no claim on its patron except the good

will built up through pass service. Our cooperative has a

good leadership, trained members and products which is

globally competitive. It has greatest growth in helping every

member with the marketing and purchasing the products

that’s why we are selling products at a low price. Our

cooperative looks forward to expand in the future that will

greatly help to the people. We would offer better products,

lower costs and facilities and services at least as satisfactory

as those of others or even greater than those others. It can

help the members to increase the net returns and to

stimulate the production of the products of better quality. We

encouraged better trade practices and perform desired

services which other business could not profitably supply.

And in order for our cooperative to prospered we should

embrace self-reliance, quality among members and equality

in distribution of and access to the benefits. Education and

training could help maintain our standards of cooperative

professional and skills. Most importantly is to share

knowledge among our members and build a better

relationship.
3.3 Bicycle grass mower is a product with good

quality that we innovated. But the first question that comes to

your mind when you see the product is how it was made?

How long should it takes in making the product?

So here are some information on how it was made.

The first thing we did is we had a quick tour to a junkshop

and find an unused bicycle. After we bought it, we cut to

remove the small parts of the bicycle that has no use which

is located at the back portion. Then we customize the back

part of the bicycle by attaching two wheels behind by the use

of welding machine. To complete the bicycle, we went back

to the shop and buy the parts such as bearing, sprocket,

chain, steel, and blade. We also bought welding rod for

attachment purposes. First, we put the bearing inside the

hole of the metal pipe using the welding machine and next

we attached the sprocket to the bearing so that it could make

the rotation. After connecting the sprocket and bearing,

using the welding machine we attached the blade to the

back part of the bicycle where it could function of grass

cutter. We attached the chain manually so that as we pedal

the bicycle the blade would turn and cut the grass that

comes to its way. It is also important to put oil to the chain

for a smooth and easy rotation. It can also avoid stain to the

chain that leads to breaking. By finishing up the product, we

need to ensure that the bicycle grass mower is presentable

to the consumers. We bought two small cans of paint and we

painted it to our desired color. Overall we assemble and

produce the product at two days full time.

3.4 This product can be developed into a highly

innovated grass mower. Using the same material and lesser

expense, it can also be produced as bicycle grass/leaves

sweeper. Instead of using blades, we can put brooms at the

end of the bicycle. It can be convenient for the cleaning

inside or outside the house. Bicycle grass mower can also

be innovated into solar motor grass mower but we need to

higher the expense since we will be dealing with electronics

in order to achieve solar functions. We look forward to gather

more data and information for further innovation of the

product and to upgrade it into different agricultural

equipment. Like for example, this bicycle grass mower can

also be a bicycle land cultivator. With the use of junk or

unused bicycle and metals, we can make a less hassle and

easy to use than “carabaos”. With enough time of studying

and observation we could give our customers and quality

and more innovated product with the same face and the new

break trough of agriculture.

Section 4: Market Analysis

4.1 This are beneficial for farmers, lawn/garden

owners, or for those who work as grass cleaner and

landscape maintenance personnel. Cooperative should sell

the product inside the market place or in public markets. For

it is the center of all kinds of trades and business where

farmers deliver their goods/products for selling and for other

consumers who buy different product for their needs. Hence,

this product can be introduced to farmers or even home

owners in the market place easily because everyone visits

that place to seek products that can fit to their need and

could help them with their chosen works. Public market is an

area for economic activity or a meeting place of people for

the purpose of trade in which the buyers and sellers come

together and it will be the perfect place to promote and sell

our products.

4.2 Mechanical mowing become possible early in the 19th

century by an English noticed named Edwin Budding. While

working in a textile mill, Budding noticed a machine that was

used to shear the nap of velvet, which to Budding, was very

similar to his ever grown grass at home that he had to cut

with a scythe every Saturday afternoon instead of going

down to the pub and listening to reports of the soccer game.

The growing convenience awing to the availability of

technically advanced gardening products is expected to

propel the adoption of gardening as a hobby nowadays. In

the present gardening equipment industry, the lawn mowers

market is anticipated to witness significant growth over the

forecast period. This is accredited to the varied use of these

equipment across several applications. Bicycle grass

cutter/mower equipped lawn care tools have further made

gardening easier. Diving to the afore mentioned reasons,

gardening is gaining momentum, which is projected to spur

the product demand in the near future. The increasing

importance of landscaping coupled with backyard

beautification is also anticipated to trigger product sales. As

backyard cookouts and garden parties continue to become

more popular, it is anticipated that the demand for gardening

equipment will grow, thereby spurring the sale of lawn

mowers.

4.3 On the other hand, other business owners offers the

same product. They market the product well and be able to

show the benefits that the consumers can get by buying their

products. They also ensure the quality of the products they

innovated, but let’s say they don’t operate and make the

product for the benefits of their members rather than just to

gain profit alone and sell the products. Since our cooperative

aims to help each member and also serves as a training

ground for self-government, it foster self-help, thrift and

moral values. There is no discrimination made on the basis

of creed, religion or political affiliation. Our cooperative

enjoys special privileges and patronizing our products.

Cooperative was built with strong leadership, so each

member should be open minded to receive new ideas from

others and cooperate with new learning’s of doing things in a

cooperative manner. It also offers cheaper products, so we

can expect a lower profitable products unlike other business

competitors that offers higher price and can get higher profit.

Since we offer lower or cheaper price we can expect a low

operating costs and it does not maintain a huge stocks to

form this cooperative each member had put up a capital,

since the liability is limited to the extent of the share, the risk

faced is known and should be take by every members.
