Ownership/leadership
Chairman and Managing Director Anil Patodia, known for his vision and commitment, has
formulated many strategies to create a niche for the brand.
He was born and brought up in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. He lived in a joint family that had
businesses in textiles, transport and general grocery. He attended Seth Motilal College,
Jhunjhunu, and started in the family business at the very young age of 11 years. He soon
began to handle the business alone in the absence of elders in the family. He travelled to
Mumbai in 1989 to explore future business avenues, and explored the share market as a
stockbroker till 1993. From 1993 to 2000, was involved in the IT business, and at the young
age of 24, served as the promoter and executive director of an IT company.
He developed an interest in the hospitality sector in 2001 and developed the vision of
a chain of pure vegetarian hotels and resorts across the world. In 2006, he purchased the
first Byke Resort in Matheran, having 82 rooms. Currently, the company has 17 operational
hotels and a few more are in the pipeline.
