Breakout Session Abstracts

Cloud Computing Sessions

Title: Deploying Applications to the Cloud with IBM Workload Deployer

Speaker: Jason R McGee, IBM Chief Architect, WebSphere Cloud Computing
Abstract: Workload-oriented, pattern-based deployment is one of the key
differentiators for IBM's cloud computing solutions. These solutions help you to
reduce the operational and infrastructure cost and complexity of running your
business applications. This session will discuss the process, methodologies and best
practices to help your client’s migrate existing Enterprise Web Applications to the
cloud, using new workload-based deployment methods.

Title: Hybrid Cloud Integration

Speaker: Marc-Thomas Schmidt, IBM Distinguished Engineer & Chief Architect SOA
Connectivity
Abstract: One of the main challenges enterprises face as they incrementally adopt
cloud based resources & business services into their IT infrastructure & business
processes is how to integrate those new resources & services with their existing
portfolio... for example, how to synchronize information captured in a cloud-based
service with on-premise data sources and services, how to reflect existing security
profiles in cloud-based interactions, how to make cloud-based services part of an
enterprise's SOA, or how to consume integration capability in a cloud form factor...
or put differently - how to establish integration to clouds, between clouds and in a
cloud to enable the resulting Hybrid Cloud configurations. The presentation will
describe the key dimensions of Hybrid Cloud Integration, discuss actual integration
use cases and explain how IBM's Connectivity & Integration technology can be used
to build out a coherent integration fabric across traditionally deployed services,
private clouds and into public clouds.
Title: Cloud Computing and Smarter IT Delivery - IBM Cloud Computing Strategy
and Roadmap
Speaker: Dr. Kristof Kloeckner, IBM VP, Strategy & Enterprise Initiatives, Systems &
Software; CTO, Cloud Computing
Abstract: Cloud Computing is an emerging new paradigm for consuming and
delivering IT based services. It leverages virtualization, service automation and
standardization to enable attractive economics with better delivery efficiency and
more flexibility. Customers have a choice of deployments ranging from private to
shared to public clouds, with a strong trend towards hybrid deployments combining
elements of all options. Adoption is driven by workload considerations, with some
workloads like development and test leading the way. We will share our experience
over last two years, working with customers and utilizing clouds within IBM. We will
also discuss our focus areas for enterprise cloud computing

Title: Cloud Computing: an opportunity for IT to move towards a service driven

management model
Speaker: Christian Monvoisin, IBM IT Specialist, European Cloud Center of
Excellence
Abstract: This presentation aims at presenting cloud computing as a lever of IT
transformation. More and more CIOs are convinced that their role is less about
technology and more about IT strategy. That's why this presentation positions cloud
computing according to this new paradigm. And since IT service management is
what links IT strategy with technology, a particular focus will be done on highlighting
interlink between ITIL and cloud computing. To make things more practical and open
minded, a parallel will be make between the conditions that pushed factory floors to
become flexible about 30 years ago and the today conditions that push IT to become
more dynamic and adaptive leveraging cloud computing.

Title: Enabling clouds with WebSphere

Speaker: Snehal S. Antani, IBM WebSphere Cloud Strategy & Product Management

discusses the challenges of building private clouds, and provides a methodology for
how customers can evolve their middleware infrastructures to become a private
cloud.
