From the tabulated answers of grade 7 to grade 10 parents/guardian, it shows that most families have
enough knowledge on what to do before, during and after an earthquake. However, few have answered
no and few are also not sure.

Before an Earthquake
Most parents know the emergency numbers and contact details of the local fire department, hospitals
and barangay officials. Parents are also aware where the designated evacuation areas within the
barangay are. Parents and guardians are fully educated on what to do before an earthquake, what are
the things that they need to prepare. Most families know the initial response during an earthquake
which is the Duck-Cover-Hold.

During an Earthquake
In the questions under during an earthquake, parents show full understanding on what they should do
during an earthquake. They know what to do when they are travelling then an earthquake happens. If
they are at home, they answered that they will do the duck-cover-hold. Basing from their answers in
question 1-8, parents are aware on what to do if someone in their family is injured, if they are trapped
inside their houses.

After an Earthquake
For questions under after an earthquake/initial shaking, majority of the parents/guardian answered yes.

Therefore, in a scale of 1-5 with being one the lowest and 5 being the highest, basing from the questions
tabulated and summarized, the preparedness level of the students’ families before, during, and after an
earthquake in Mayag is 5.
