Following are the comments from the 4 panel member during first external review:

Introduction of the Topic:

1. Firstly, it is very essential to conduct a basic precedent study to get/give

clear picture about our outcome of the thesis.

Philosophy of Design and Theoretical background:

1. Directly start with architectural relevance in your topic and limit the other
aspects like social, economic, emotional, experiential etc.
2. Do not combine two or three different issues in one topic.
3. Your presentation should reflect the context and sensitivity of the project
and the chosen site location.

Aim & Objectives:

1. Aim and Objectives must be as simple as possible and to be very specific

to the point.

Justification of the Topic:

1. All the statistical data and other data (graph, chart and tables) presented
to establish the need for the project or justification must be very accurate.
2. Do not use some irrelevant data or statistics just because it is having some
key words related to your topic.
3. Read the complete article and understand the usage of data in that
particular context and see if is of any use to you.
4. Support all the data and information with proper source. If it is graph, chart,
table, picture/image, mention the source just below them and mention the
name of the article and other details in References.
5. While justifying, present more of architecture. We need to address all the
issues through architecture only.

Scope of Work and Limitations:

1. The thesis topic and the spatial requirements should be very precise and
focused.
2. Include scope that is necessary for that particular project.
3. Increase or decrease of scope to be done carefully after studying and
understanding the volume of similar type of thesis.
4. In case of large campuses, select projects for which master plan is already
done or finalized.
5. Decide on scope that are viable and in workable scale.
6. Be very specific about what you are not doing in this thesis.

Methodology:

1. Irrespective of the common methodology for thesis, your topic should have
a very specific methodology to satisfy your objectives and fulfil your aim of
the thesis.
2. Methodology should reflect the type and kind of data collection and
studies involved.
3. Most of your methodology were very common and needs to be reworked
in detail.

Proposed Site and Justification of Site selection:

1. Selection of site location to suit the need of the project for various purposes.
2. Complete understanding of the site context and its sensitivity is required at
the beginning of the thesis itself.
3. Various approaches of site development should be studied as a part of
precedent study.

Case Studies:

1. Case studies should be closely relevant to your thesis.

2. Case studies to be done properly even to critically understand the design
3. Both positive aspects and negative aspects to be looked into the case
studies.
4. All aspects of design (Spatial planning, integration of services, structural
systems and aesthetic values) should be studied and analyzed in case
studies for better programming of your thesis.
General Comments:

1. Do not read from your slides, rather present your topic

2. Do not misuse terms like sustainability, urbanization, green building etc.
3. Do not provide any irrelevant information as they might invite trouble.
4. Be clear about what you are talking.
5. Soft skills for presenting your thesis to be improved, like body language,
properly responding back to the jurors, acknowledging or reciprocating on
the remarks or statements made by the jurors etc.
