Alison McQuillan, B.A.Sc., M.Sc

Rocscience Representative in Australia
Alison is a Rocscience Representative based in Brisbane, Australia, providing software training
and tech support for Rocscience in the Asia-Pacific region. She is a Chartered Professional
(Geotech) and Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland. Alison holds a Masters of Mining
Engineering (Geomechanics) from the University of New South Wales and is currently completing
her Ph.D in rock mechanics at the same university. Alison’s area of expertise is open cut slope
stability, previously working in both ops and corporate roles for Anglo American, New Hope Coal,
and Rio Tinto as well as providing consulting advice for copper, gold, and iron ore operations in
Australia and overseas. Alison takes a risk-based design approach to all geotechnical analysis to
find a practical solution for customers.

Gilang Firmanda, B.Eng.

Managing Director of LENUSA Consulting

Gilang Firmanda is the founder of LENUSA Consulting. Gilang received his Bachelor’s degree
in Geological Engineering from UPN ‘Veteran’ Yogyakarta in Indonesia. Gilang has carried out
various geological, geotechnical, and hydrogeological projects in a wide range of industries such
as mining, oil and gas, civil construction, and renewable energy. Projects that Gilang has done
include open pit slope design, evaluation of mine slope stability, rippability, mine waste dump
design and evaluation, hauling road assessment, groundwater contamination investigation, slope
monitoring, coal exploration, geotechnical exploration, and many other projects. Gilang is familiar
in numerical modelling, kinematic analysis, and engineering geology which unites interpretations
of geological conditions to geotechnical needs.

Hanif Sulaeman, B.Eng., M.Sc.

Engineer in Geology at LENUSA Consulting

Hanif Sulaeman is an Engineer in Geology at LENUSA Consulting. Hanif is also a writer,

recognized as one of the young professionals’ voices advocating for disaster risk reduction.
Hanif expanded his presence in disaster risk reduction by joining Uinspire Indonesia, a platform
for youth and young in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (SETI) to accelerate
the implementation of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Hanif received his Bachelor’s degree in
Geological Engineering from UPN ‘Veteran’ Yogyakarta in Indonesia and his master’s degree
in Geological Sciences at Brigham Young University, Utah. Hanif discovered 2 paleotsunami
deposits in the Lesser Sunda Islands for his thesis. Together with LENUSA Consulting, Hanif has
been working on geotechnical work ranging from reliability assessment, geotechnical drilling,
slope stability analysis to groundwater investigations.
