1. INTRODUCTION
Erdas Image is a software that processing image. It allows the users to
process geospatial and other imagery as well as vector data. However only
newer versions of Erdas Imagine has the capability to handle vector data.

2. OBJECTIVE

1. Understand the basic of Erdas Image display and tools.


2. Able to operate basic functions of Erdas Imagine software package.
3. PROCEDURE

1. Firstly, launch Erdas Imagine. To launch the software click on Erdas


Imagine icon. The software will display the window using 2D view.
2. There were 3 main parts of the software which is Toolbar, Table of
contents and image viewer.
3. Open the satellite images to Erdas Imagine. Click the icon open file
on the top of the panel and new windows will open and open the
raster file from the folder.
4. After the raster image appear, right click at the raster images and then
select the three layer management, and then the windows will
separate into three with different location.
5. To open and overlay two data, go to the T.OC then manage the data.
6. After that, to open the image, use multi-layer arrangements.
7. To view the metadata of the data, examine the information about the
data you want to use, and then go to home tab and click Metadata.
8. The new pop-up windows will appear that contains the information
about the data.
9. To determine the coordinate and brightness values, go to home tab
and click inquire. Drag the cross hair cursor to desired location on the
image.
10. To examine the data using Spectral, Spatial and Surface tools go to
the Multispectral. In the popup window, use the cross hair icon and
click on the image. The profile will be displayed.
11.Use the line icon to create a new profile line. Draw a line on the
image and double click to finish,
12. To use square icon to create a new profile line, hold the cursor to
draw a box on the image and release to finish. The profile will be
displayed.
4. QUESTION ANSWER.

1. How many bands are there in the dataset? Briefly describe each band.
2. Please state the number of rows and columns in the dataset?
3. Please state the lowest and highest values of digital number contained in
the datasets.
4. What is the projection, Spheroid and Datum of the datasets? Do you think
this information is important? Why?
5. Color combinations are used to enhance desired features on the Earth
surface.
6. Display the image using different combinations. What is/are the
combination(s) do you preferred to study the following features?
A. Water bodies
B. Vegetation
C. Land
D. Linear features
