Classroom management strategies:


 Start each activity explaining what it is
 Using the strategy that already works with them calm them down: singing
the Mr. silent song
 Model the instructions and resort to L1 only if necessary
 Make sure that students know what I expect of them
 If time is short and they were not able to finish the activity, continue it next
the following class.

Lesson stages:

Routine

I will sing the “Hello song” and the “If you are happy song” and encourage
children to sing with me as part of their routine.
Lead-in and presentation

 Purpose:
To develop Linguistic skills
 Timing: 5 minutes
 Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
students (include direct speech)
 Tell them “sit down here, around me, please! (I will sat down
on the floor). Now, “look at this envelope, What’s in it?” (This
will be expressed in L2 using mimics as scaffolding strategy).
I will show the envelope which has a little star, so they can
spy what is in it.

Presentation

 Purpose
 Rainforce vocabulary about school objects
 To present the structure “Have you got…?”

 Timing: 10 minutes

 Activity description and instructions as they will be said to


students (include direct speech):
“Ok, let’s see, What have I got in the envelope?” I will hold up the
envelope and show them a part of the flashcard is in. As they answer,
I will change the envelope and that way we will review all the school
objects. Then I will give them a flashcard to each one and I will say,
“Ok, Stand up Who have got a pencil and run around the circle and
then sit down. Now, stand up who have got a bag” and so on.
 Transition comment to link each stage of the lesson with the next

“Good job! Stand up and go to the tables. Let´s play a game”

Development of the sequence of activities


Activity 1: Memory game
 Purpose:
 Consolidate the vocabulary of school objects

 Timing: 10 minutes

 Activity description and instructions as they will be said to


students (include direct speech):
“Ok, do you know memory game? In this game we need to find
the same picture about school objects and make pairs, saying
loudly the name of the object, for example if you find a pencil, you
need look for the other pencil and say “I have got a pencil”, but If
you don’t find the same picture, you must put down the pieces
down again”. (I will show them it and I expressed in L2 using
mimics as a scaffolding strategy).
Activity 2: The get your pencil song

 Purpose:
 Improve their listening and speaking skills
 Consolidate the vocabulary about school objects
 Timing: 5 minutes
 Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
students (include direct speech):
I will tell the kids that we will watch a video with a song about
school objects. I will teach the song them. Then, we will sing and
dance.

Activity 3: Count and draw


 Purpose:
 To develop mathematical skills
 Consolidate the vocabulary about school objects
 Timing: 10 minutes
 Activity description and instructions as they will be said to
students (include direct speech):
I will ask children to count from 1 to 5 saying it loudly and showing
their fingers.
I will give the kids a sheet of paper with the activity that they must
count and draw the correct amount of school object, then paint and
hand it to me.

“Excellent! Great job!”

Closure

 Purpose:
 Say goodbye
 Model the goodbye song
 Timing: 5 minutes
 Activity description and instructions as they will be
said to students (include direct speech)
“Ok girls and boys, let’s sing the goodbye song, show me your hands
and sing with me”
