Content Standard

The learner demonstrates understanding of: Philippine literature in the Period of


Emergence as a tool to assert one’s identity; strategies in listening to and viewing of informative
and short narrative texts; word relationships and associations; informative speech forms; and use
of direct/reported speech, passive/ active voice, simple past and past perfect tenses, and sentence
connectors.

Performance Standard
The learner transfers learning by: showing ways of asserting one’s identity;
comprehending informative and short narrative texts using schema and appropriate listening and
viewing strategies; expressing ideas, opinions, and feelings through various formats; and
enriching written and spoken communication using direct/reported speech, active/passive voice,
simple past and past perfect tenses and connectors correctly and appropriately.

I. Objectives
a. Link sentences using logical connectors that signal chronological and logical
sequence and summation
b. Express understanding in using proper logical connectors to have accuracy in a
text
c. Perform a talk show, cooking show, advertisement, broadcasting and art class that
observe proper use of logical connectors.

The students will have a short recap about the previous lesson by answering the
following questions.

1. What is a narrative text?


2. What are the elements of narrative text?

C. Lesson Proper
1. Motivation
What’s next?
Divide the class into four groups. Each group will be given a set of pictures. The
students will sequence the pictures accordingly. The first group to finish the activity
wins the game.

2. Unlocking of difficulties
The students will watch a short video clip on preparing the famous Philippines
viand, adobo. Afterwards, they will share their insights about it.

3. Discussion
a. The students will share their prior knowledge about logical connectors.
b. The teacher will discuss the meaning of logical connectors.
c. The students will cite some examples of logical connectors.
d. The students will recognize some of the connectors.
e. The students will complete the paragraph by adding the proper logical
connectors.

4. Group Activity
The students will be grouped into five. They will pick an emoticon inside the
basket and if they have picked the same emoticon, they will be in the same group.
The students will perform a short presentation of the assigned activities per group
below. They should observe the proper use of logical connectors and they will be
graded according to the criteria presented in the rubric.

IV. Evaluation
Arrange the procedures in making cupcakes to form a coherent paragraph by
adding proper logical connectors.

How to Make Cupcakes

1. Preheat oven to 180⁰C. Line up cupcake tins with cases.


2. Using a mixer, cream butter, sugar and vanilla until creamy and fluffy.
Gradually add eggs and mix until just combined.
3. Combined flour, cocoa and bicarbonate soda. Add to creamed mixture with
milk. Beat until just combined.
4. Spoon mixture into liners until each case is one-third full. Bake for 15-20
minutes.
5. To make the chocolate butter cream icing, beat butter until light and fluffy.
Add icing sugar and cocoa and combine well. Beat in milk until mixture is
fluffy.
6. Once the cupcakes have cooled, cover them with icing and enjoy.
