LESSON PLAN LESSON2: (plant from the seed)

SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDING

Students will be able to:

By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to plant a seed and observe the its growth.

Link to prior learning: Students already know parts of the plant, and the job for each part, also the students
know about the seed and its parts.

- Students will be working in groups so it will increase their social skills.

Resources & Time Starter (10 minutes)

Opening
- First, I will gather the students on the carpet, then I will ask them
questions to tap into their prior knowledge
- What are the parts of a plant?
- What are the parts of a seed?
- How do you think seeds grow?
- After that I will show them a video of how seeds grow, and I will pause
the video ask questions, check understanding, ask the students for
predictions.
- After the video I will ask the students about what they saw and what the
seed needs to live and what harms the seed.

Resources & Time Main activities (20 minutes)

Before the activity: Experiment:


- I will plant a seed with my students, first I will show the students the
different types of seed that I collected, each zip lock bag will have the name
and picture on it.
- Second, I will show the students the materials I will use in the experiment
(cotton, water, seed, zip lock bag or plastic bag).
- Third, I will create a false experiment with all the don’ts (too much water,
no water, no light) and I will explain why we should not do that, then I will
demonstrate the experiment correctly showing the students how to plant a
seed.
- Finally, I will send the students to their groups, and distribute the
materials, I will observe and help the students plat the seed and when they
are done. They must write their names and decorate the (My Little Sprout
House) each group will put their bags in the box, and I will tape it to the class
window.

Resources Plenary (15 minutes)

- I will ask the students to come to the carpet.


- I will distribute a page student must draw day one of the bean.
- Teacher will ask students to turn and talk for predicting what will happen
next week
- Student will use turn and talk to discuss their predication.
- Teacher will write the students prediction in the board.
- Student must write
it in week 1 with the
drawing of the bean.
Assessment
After students finish from writing their predication and drawing teacher will use
(questioning strategy) (thumbs up & down)
- What happens when a seed gets what it needs?It grows into a plant
- What will the seed grow to look like? They will grow to look like the plant
they came from.

Teacher will use the check list during the experiment and assessment.
