Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Good morning class Good morning sir!

I’m sir Glenn and I will be your teacher
today
Before proceeding to our class session, students follow instructions
let us all arrange our chairs and pick up
pieces of papers around you.

I will divide the class into three groups

and each group will be given envelopes
containing study materials we’ll be using
today. You will get the materials once
instructed. Is it clear? Yes sir.

Throughout the lesson, we will be playing

tic-tac-toe with a twist. Each correct
answer given by the group is a chance to
create a straight path on the 3x3 table.
The twist is, you can either put your
symbol, or remove a symbol from your
chosen group. The first group to earn the
most lines at the end of the session will
win the game. Therefore, you must be
tactical where you will be placing your
symbols.

Now, I want you to get the smaller

envelop inside the big envelope.
Inside that is jigsaw puzzle in which you
must complete. The first group to finish
will get the chance to put 2 symbols on
the table, and the second with 1. Do you
have any questions? Open the envelopes
now! Group 1
Group 2

Group 3

Excellent! Using the pictures formed in

the jigsaw puzzle, who wants to share to
the class what these pictures show?
Very good. Where do you think are these
pictures taken?

Good! And that will be the center of our These pictures show the aftermath of a
discussion today. disaster particularly a typhoon.

These are taken in the Philippines after

Typhoon Yolanda.

recorded and compare each.

To guide you, you must fill the table Fani Haiyan Wilma

3. Explain

Teacher’s Activity Students’ Activity

Before presenting, I will be giving you a
task. In your seats, you have to answer
the question-
What is the difference between typhoon,
cyclone and hurricane?
So, you must listen keenly to the
presenters.

Students will share the information they

have read one by one.

casualties. Although Wilma is stronger, it
has lesser casualties than Fani.
Thank you so much.
Now can anyone explain why these three When the storm is formed in the Atlantic,
are termed differently: cyclone Fani, it is termed ‘Hurricane’, in the Pacific
Typhoon Haiyan, and Hurricane Wilma? ‘Typhoon’ and in the Indian ‘cyclones’.

Excellent. But regardless, scientists term

them tropical cyclones.
Also, regardless of their terms, they are
devastating as what is shown in the
pictures earlier. Therefore, what shall we Be prepared for this natural disaster.
