The Future is Now – Electric cars

Currently, the quantity of electric cars is near 4.5 million around the world, while gasoline cars
number is near 1.2 billion, this is due to electric car technology is recent. Moreover, the high costs
about electric cars do not permit that people change their traditional gasoline cars. Now, with all
new electric car market, people can easily identify the best electric option that fits their economy
and familiar necessities. Furthermore, people can buy their electric car thinking about environment
contribution. With transition of the new technology some car brands offer different kinds of cars for
instance, traditional and electric cars that people can buy depend their likes and budget.

In Colombia, there are different brands that offer different kind of electric cars. However, some
brands are changing their traditional gasoline cars portfolio in contrast to 10 years ago. In fact, this
new electric car portfolio has clean technologies that are helping the environment. For example, in
Colombia there are brands like Renault, BMW, Nissan, Kia and BYD, that offer traditional gasoline
and electric cars, some examples of electric cars are Renault Kangoo ZE, Twizy, ZOE, Nissan Leaf,
BMW I3 and I8, BYD E5 and E6 and finally Kia Soul B-electric. All these brands and models make that
the Colombian electric cars market has a lot of options for all kind of people. People can find from
brand lead (By BMW) to economical brand (BYD), with different medium options specifically,
Renault, Nissan, Hiunday and Kia.

When you decide to change to electric cars, the next question is the cost. Usually the questions
about cost are: First, what is the cost? Second, should you have a power station in your home?, is it
necessary?, What is the cost of that? And finally, what are the maintenance costs? All these
questions could make you give up your decision to change your traditional car. For instance,
although the initial cost is higher, you can save money with the gasoline cost because energy is less
expensive for each kilometer traveled. Second, Colombian government launched some tax benefits,
VAT and annually tax with important reductions. Third, you can use the electric cars everyday in
contrast with traditional cars that have mobility restrictions. Fourth, electric cars are free of
maintenance parts this is because it does not have a lot of mechanical parts, you do not need to
change oil and filters and finally, thanks to advances in battery technology, users can charge their
electric cars in 20 minutes for this reason it is not necessary to install home power station to save
some money.

Each day electric cars are more efficient than traditional gasoline cars. The major cost in an electric
car is the battery as a consequence of this, battery factories are developing new charges cells more
efficient each day. The second factor is electric engines that compared to gasoline engines are near
40% more efficient additionally 90% cleaner and friendly with the environment because electric cars
do not produce pollution emissions. On the other hand, security is a determinant factor and electric
cars have advantage in contrast to traditional cars because it does not have an engine in front of the
pilot and when an accident occurs the electric car does not catch fire. With all this space the
designers decided to put a lot of sensors with measures in real time. For example, the distance with
cars in front, reverse sensors, auto parking, a lot of cameras, comfort sensors (Weather, road, etc.)

In conclusion, if the intention around the world is to have a cleaner environment it is necessary to
promove cleaner vehicles technology. This can be achieved by designing new laws, reducing all taxes
and increasing costs benefits for each person that change their traditional car. With these new
technologies are reduce sound levels, pollution emissions and why not fracking. We need to change
gasoline and diesel transportation for clean and smart transportation, for example smart electric
cars. In conclusion, the benefits of an electric car are more than a gasoline car, this is an opportunity
to save and change our environment.
