My Philosophy of Education

By Kaleigh Warner

Education is the foundation of our society and children are the future.
Through the journey of education children deserve to discover themselves, the
complexities of the world around them, and how the two combine to create
curious, life-long learners.

It is a necessity to support unique qualities of each individual to

promote diversity and acceptance of differences between us. Every child
deserves a chance to explore their full potentials and develop a sense of
autonomy in which they can respectfully exercise their opinions and listen to
those of others. Each child has different strengths, abilities, and learning styles
which is why education will never be a “one size fits all” profession.

In this journey of learning, children deserve to have a safe place to take

on challenges and make mistakes, a welcoming and supportive environment to
feel that they belong, and a fun place to explore their curiosities amongst other
learners. All students deserve a chance to share their findings and all students
will learn the powerful practice of listening. It’s important to facilitate learners
that are knowledgeable in content, just as much as they are knowledgeable
about themselves and the world around them. Providing all students with
learning opportunities that are applicable to their lives, personally and generally,
gives students the chance to use skills in real world situations where what they
learn in school is beneficial to them far beyond it. Through positive, effective
educational strategies teachers will foster students’ love for learning, reading,
and, most importantly, for themselves.

The goals of teachers are to facilitate students’ quest and give them
resources that support their dreams. It’s of the utmost importance to educators
that they demonstrating the continual desire to learn, in a world that is ever
changing, as a role model for students. Teachers stand alongside children,
learning with them and learning from them. Talking with them and not talking at
them.
