1.1 Executive Summary

Ernst and Young LLP (E&Y) in collaboration with Pennsylvania State University College
of IST (Course 302, Group 7) will assist Nittany Lion National Bank (NLNB) in reviewing
and revising their IT infrastructure including systems and applications, and also
identifying, assessing, and analyzing the risks and key areas of improvement. The team
will examine and review their current processes and software in order to aid their
company in future endeavors, and hopefully make up for previous mishaps. The team’s
primary focus and goal will be on evaluating and assessing the failure of the banking
application that came with a software update in December 2013 resulting in reputational
damage for NLNB. The team will provide recommendations and resolutions on how to
remediate and revive the application and improve its overall functionality. During the
course of the project, the team will also provide suggestions on how to promote and aid
the end user experience as well as keeping their information out of harm's way. In
addition to this, the team will also provide recommendations on updating the existing
technology in order to stay up to par with NLNB’s competitors. This will include the
mobile application, security, and other services also offered by NLNB. In conclusion,
Ernst and Young LLP (E&Y) in collaboration with Pennsylvania State University College
of IST (Course 302, Group 7) will assist Nittany Lion National Bank (NLNB) in reviewing
their IT infrastructure including systems, applications, and security.
