Dear Mrs.

Bennett,

I was excited when you announced that there is an available position for Head Teacher in

our school, Explorer High School. As a skilled and spontaneous teacher, it is my pleasure to

submit my resume for review. My experience and passion for teaching would significantly

impact the school’s administration and ensure our students’ academic success.

I believe that schools should foster an encouraging learning environment for their

students. Schools should be a place that offers space for creativity as well as critical thinking. It

should be an environment that stimulates students’ curiosity to learn about their social and

physical surroundings. Schools should also offer students support in their mental and physical

well-being. This being said, as a Head Teacher, I would ensure that there will be zero tolerance

on bullying and discrimination. Furthermore, I want to guarantee an accessibility centre for

students with learning disabilities accordingly to the school’s ability to attain these resources.

My teaching philosophy insists on the importance of developing meaningful relationships

with students to ensure their academic success correspondingly to their learning process by

acknowledging their individuality. I find it important for teachers to be open about their own

experiences to encourage their students to share their own as well. By establishing links between

the subject matter to their reality makes their education more meaningful, more substantial. As a

teacher, I want to make an impact to my students’ life, to motivate them to initiate change in

their society. I find it rewarding to leave a legacy to students to build up on for them to make the

most out of their education. It is because I have hope in my students to learn about our society

and make a change that I chose the profession of a teacher.

I want to encourage using a differentiated instruction to teach our students. This method

of instruction suggests observing, getting to know, understanding your students to figure out the
best way to teach them a subject by utilizing different tools. This considers that every student has

a different learning process; whether it be auditory, visual, and/or kinesthetic learning. By

switching from activity to activity, this method stimulates the students’ consistent engagement in

the lesson. To conduct this teaching style, our teachers should be flexible, spontaneous, and open

to adapt to any challenge that arises.

To encourage team building amongst staff, I would establish weekly gatherings for staff

to meet in the lounge to have coffee and snacks and talk through the challenges they face in

class. The goal of this weekly meeting is for everyone to support one another, to transform

complaining about students into finding solutions to solve the troubles in the classroom.

Moreover, I would encourage teachers to go to conferences, conventions or workshops on

pedagogical days. This supports continuous improvement in each staff’s professional

development because I trust that there is always room for growth.

Therefore, I find myself suitable to fill the position as Head Teacher for this school. If it

were not for hope in a better tomorrow, I would not be in this profession. I trust that change can

be great progress for a community; for ours, as a school, I would try my best to make that

change.

Sincerely,

Dominique Gonzales-Calma
