The insulation voltage shall not be less than 1000V and suitable for operation up to 600V, 3 phase, 4 wire, SOHZ supply. 3- Conductor: The conductor bar shall be of rectangular section with rounded corners and of electrolytic copper of 99.9% purity. ‘The bars shall be fully insulated, class F is the minimum insulation class required. The bus bar shall be rated for a temperature of 55 C. All bus bar sizes shall be of single bar construction, bus bar rated more than 2500A can be double bars. The bus bar must be able to sustain the short circuit current of at least 63KA for the entire duration of the fault and shall be able to withstand both electrodynamics stress and energy dissipation. Specification For Low Voltage Bus bar Trunking System (Busway) 4- Degree of protection: ‘The bus bar riser for indoor use should be totally enclosed and to comply with degree of protection of at least IP55. The plug-in outlet and cover plate of the joint cover should also comply with degree of protection of IPSS. 5- Housing The external casing shall be either resin encapsulation or hot galvanized sheet steel or aluminum with thickness not less than1.5 mm and to be shaped in such a way as to give excellent electromechanical characteristic and heat dissipation. The construction shall be of sandwich configuration to prevent the circulation of air inside the casing, all plastic material to be self-extinguishing and non-fire propagating. ‘The construction of the enclosure of bus bar shall be boltless and no bolts or screws are used to strengthen the bus bar enclosure. 6- Jointing The joint part shall be tin ~electroplated to prevent any corrosion and moisture from forming The tightening of the joint to be done by double headed torque bolt and tightened to correct torque setting. The jointing block should have the facility to check the tightness of the bolt with the bus bar live and without removing cover plate of the jointing block. Specification For Low Voltage Bus bar Trunking System (Busway) BLN oleey ole poe Ae ‘Sharjah Electricity & Water Authorty The construction of the mono block jointing element to be such that it ensures uniform pressure over the whole jointing area. It should be of three bolts construction for 2500A rating and above and two bolts for rating less than 250A to assure good contact and low resistance. The mono block to have interlock to ensure it is placed correctly. 7- Expansion Expansion element to be fitted at least 40m of horizontal or vertical run. Expansion joint shall be fitted wherever bus bar cross a building joint. 8- Plug-in unit Tap-off boxes to be plug-in type suitable for MCCB. Tap-off enclosure shall be constructed from galvanized sheet steel with paint finish, and it should have side hinge with front cover. It shall incorporate an external operating handle with ON\OFF\TRIP indication for MCCB enabling it to be operated with the cover closed. ‘The MCCB shall be 4 poles and shall incorporate padlock facility for maintenance purpose. The plug-in unit shall be suitable for mounting on front of the riser as required. The unit shall be supplied with all connections and accessories to enable connection to the bus bar and the outgoing cable to be correctly and safely achieved. The unit shall have clamps with interlocking facility to prevent the unit being removed from the bus bar when MCCBis in ON position. Additional interlock to be provided to prevent opening of the door of plug-in unit when the MCCB is in ON position. Maximum rating for plug-in type is 400A , rating above this shall be provided as bolt on type. n For Low Voltage Bus bar Trunking System (Busway) Shariah Bec & Water Autoiy 9- Earth Bar The earth bar should be of pure copper and at least 50% of the phase bar. The earth bar either to run along both sides of the bus bar system (each run 25%) or taken at one side (50%) and bounded to bus bar enclosure. ‘The earth bar shall be brought inside the tap-off box and the earthing contact shall make first when tap-off is plugged in. 10- Accessories The bus bar manufacturer should have a standard range of accessories including horizontal and vertical elbows, T element and double elbows, connecting elements (Flange) to switchgear and transformer. 11- Certification and Testing 11.1 Design verification All bus duct system components shall be certified to confirm to latest IEC standard by independent reputable testing authority. List of design verification to be performed: - 1. Strength of material. 2. Properties of insulating material. 3. Degree of protection. 4, Clearance and creep age distance.
