MIXTURE
Calcium carbonate, naphthalene, sodium chloride, dyes, water
Filtration
Sublimation
Evaporation
Based on our observation regarding the given topic when calcium carbonate,
naphthalene, sodium chloride, dye and water mix together its result to the color of yellow-
orange. The appearance of the mixture become cloudy and some substances floating in
the surface above and the deep part of the experiment. And we notice that the residue in
the filter paper is remain scattered and there’s a bubble residue of that color white. Maybe
we are lack for stirring it or due to measuring instrument. In some point after we filter the
mixture it’s become orange (pure). We all know that Filtration is process in which solid
particles in a liquid or gaseous fluid are removed by the use of a filter medium that permits
the fluid to pass through but retains the solid particles. So it is the main reason that of
separation of the color, before its color yellow orange but after the filtration we see that it
turn to color orange pure to attain the separation of substances. Separation is achieved
by some form of interaction between the substance or objects to be removed and the
filter.
In sublimation, after we filtrate, there’s some residue in the filtered paper like the
dye or food color, Sublimation is caused by the absorption of heat which provides enough
energy for some molecules to overcome the attractive forces of their neighbors and
escape into the vapor phase. Meaning when the filtrate mixture is heated it provide some
energy from some molecule result to become crystalized and have moist. In the
adsorption the filtrate change again its color it become yellowish after heated. Because
when something is heated it has a probability that it change it color. In evaporation after
the filtrate is transfer to evaporating dish ,it change again its color it’s become dark orange
and stuck to evaporating dish that has a bubbly appearance.
