PLAN OF THE DAY

 Visit Bano baji house and visit client’s home.

 Visit Delhi brotherhood society
WORK DONE

 I visited new seemapuri “E-44”streets of new seemapuri. Went to bano baaji house,
met sabeena (grandmother), she came with one of his grand child who then ran after
seeing us. His son is currently in jail and is repetitive criminal, who after 1 or 2 week
do some illegal activity and end up in jail. She told us that his son is completely
indulged in drug abuse and daughter in law goes in morning and return home in night.
No one is there to take care of children and they keep roaming in community whole
day. There are two children named Rehan and Sufiyan, 8 and 12years respectively.
Both of them had never been to school nor even go to nearby madarsa. She is worried
about their future, she don’t know where both of them are spending their time all day.
 Ms. Sabeena and bano baaji then started telling us more cases of drug abuse in their
area and even shared the worst cases in which a 4 year child is also consuming drugs
in the form of Bidi and Tobacco. In one case mother don’t have money to give child
for drugs in return to which child sold utensils of house for obtaining some money.
 After this I went to Delhi brotherhood society, here mahila panchayat is working on
domestic violence and issues related to women. This is not area specific cases from all
over Delhi and UP border are reported. She assured if any case of our area of work is
reported or known to her then she will contact us definitely. She also mentioned if I
need any kind of help then I can contact them without any hesitation.
 There I found centre of Asha deep foundation where they are running crèche for
senior citizens and remedial classes for children of rag picker community (E block)
she told us that if we need any data then we should approach at main office situated in
Shaheed nagar.
OBSERVATION

 While discussing the situation of E-44 block, they mentioned that not even a
single home is untouched from the trap of drug abuse which clearly show how
major role is played by the environment of neighbourhood and community in
 individual’s life. People are concerned regarding the life and future of their
children. Women member of a family at some point feel helpless as bano baaji
mentioned that she is not able to save her own son. She mentioned “ab toh hum
thakk gaye hai koshish kar ke koi NGO nhi karti yahan kaam nasha khatam karne
par” this shows that somewhere the hope for better future and better living
conditions is lost. After listening some of the cases in which parents are giving
money for buying drugs because child feel irritated if he/she didn’t get daily dose
of drug makes me wonder the helpless nature of the situation in which you are
aware of harmful effects of drugs but you are not able to do anything. They also
mentioned that crime rate is increasing because people need money for buying
drugs.
 When we visited to Delhi brotherhood society mahila panchayat, there was
discussion going on regarding one case in which girl and boy want to marry each
other and they are legally eligible. The mother was worried and were asking for
help from mahila panchayat where head of DBS mentioned that they cannot
intervene legally because they are adult and only societal pressure can be made for
stopping them to marry each other. The head also said that “ek baar ladki kheer ka
maza chakk le toh aap rok thodi sakti ho fir toh vo baar baar jayegi”. This was the
exact words of the head after this she said that you are a women and you are not
trying to understand what I am saying. This statement make me very
uncomfortable to sit there as I personally found that this line was very derogatory
in nature and shows a thinking a women for a young women of a society who has
a right to make a choice whom she wants to live or marry and people are judging
her on the basis of her own choice.
ANALYSIS

 Where people are struggling for better living conditions because of factors related to
their living condition they are forced into drug abuse. we as a part of agency is trying
to work on criminal justice, where there is much need of providing or helping to gain
social justice to these people and to have a knowledge or study about the impact of
social marginalization on this particular rag picker community. There is a need to
work on their basic needs like food, cloth, shelter, education, job and health. There is
a need of developing awareness regarding their rights and to connect with policy or
measures taken to improve the lives of a citizens.
 The principle of non-judgemental attitude is important in not only in social work
profession but in all other profession also who are dealing with human beings.
FUTURE PLAN

 Visit India vision foundation and discussed work with agency supervisor and also
asked regarding the admission procedure in Asha deep foundation school.
