The use of media and physical are the best ways to make it go out to a lot of people.
GLOBAL ISSUES REPORT 3
Social Work
Child abuse is described as the mistreatment of children in a physical or mental way and
occurs across all cultures and demographics. It is important to study the common sings of child
abuse in order to identify victims and take action to prevent it. Canada social workers have been
reporting a big amount of increase in child abuse such as close to Canada is Arizona. Therefore,
having a specific workshop to raise awareness about the neglection of children at The University
of Texas at El Paso.
Discussion
The concept of child abuse is well known mostly in particular situations such in schools
and in families. Family member struggling with a drinking problem can cause kids to feel not
loved or confused. According to Park & Schepp (2014), here are several environmental
conditions predictive of depression and anxiety that are common in families with a substance-
abusing member. Parents who abuse alcohol can react to their children with aggression for
example physical abuse or even mental abuse which cause the kids to have depression or anxiety.
Helping struggling parents with ways to take better care and raise their children the safe way;
working with students and teachers to address bullying, learning disabilities and other problems.
The life of a social worker is hard and different from others. Social workers focus on other
people’s problems which is not any basic problems real life or dead problems, mental problems,
and family problems. The evidence suggests parents must take that addiction away to not have
their children grow up with depression and not follow the same steps. To solve the problems of
children you have to start by understanding what they think and how they think. Families have to
UTEP Social workers must have passion for helping people. UTEP social workers were
sent to help children grow up to be good future miners. According to Dunn (2000) Helping to
ensure that all El Paso children are helped by UTEP prepared them with enthusiasm and 21st
century (pg. 3). UTEP focus was to help children grow in a happy environment and focus only
on them. Hard work students put all the efforts in the year 2000 since that’s when children were
in the age of growing up and maturing. The author suggests that children sometimes need
happiness from others to make them happy how can they suffer being so small and innocent.
Social workers must check family background mostly moms since they can have a
transmitted sexual disease that can hurt the child which can lead the child to act in an unusual
way. There should be less people having aids if they take care of themselves antibiotics and
protection. Children may have aids even if not have done any sexual contact. According to Brian
(2003) If a mother gives birth and she having aids are automatically transferred to the baby (pg.
20). I t is very important to check yourself before getting pregnant or during to prevent any type
of disease on your baby. Therefore, if you want to prevent your baby from having aids you then
must get checked by a doctor before or by taking care of yourself during sexual contact.
Social workers are exemplary public service through helping manage and resolve various
social problems. Commit to assessing and treating clients through the lens of development
theory. There are different types of theories to treat families that have a substance abusing-
member. For example, the child may get some bad changes if he is not treated the right way.
According to Kelly (2016). The child may develop depression, mental health issue and mental
illness (pg. 49). Following the steps of codependency can lead to dependence of a person or
object which causes stress in case one of this day’s it goes away. This confirms that in order to

treat a passion there must be a step by step theory to help the patient and the children who seem
Social workers have a role of physiologist with every person they assist. The environment
in the families is so critical as how the child develops. According to Dr. Hartman (2018), “To
me, it’s the same thing that’s been going and forever”. I t has never change since she started
working with families there is never the perfect family. The individual tempts to focus on their
problem and not open to others which causes harm to the family then social workers tempt to go
more about the individual’s psychological health than fixing the problem (p. 252). These errors
can cause us social workers to divert on what the real problem is which is to help the kids grow
up in a good parent environment. The author’s point is that social workers have to first focus on
fixing the problem so families can’t stop having mental issues depending on the problem.
Social workers advocate for social justice and fight against child neglection and
mistreatment. Children are being aggressed by their parents with physical and mental abuse.
According to Saunders (2019) Violence against children can be “hidden in plain sight” when
physical aggression and emotional degradation, reserved only for children, is not perceived to be
violent because it is normalized, taken for granted, intrinsic to childhood (pg. 492). Children are
not protected from corporal punishment; Social Workers research that kids who have abusive
parents are tempted to do the same to their kids when they grow up. Because they think it’s the
right way to make a kid understand they are doing something wrong. This confirms in order for
kids to grow up in a natural environment and normal they have to live a happy childhood
Social workers value the dignity and worth of each mother of a child but there are ways
to help your child grow in a healthy way. Women fear social workers for taking their kids away.
GLOBAL ISSUES REPORT 6
According to Taylor (2019) mothers had a predominantly negative view of children's social
services, especially when social workers had significant child protection concerns (pg. 20). The
fear of mothers being judged as unfit mothers and having their babies taken away worried them
too much. Mothers felt that social workers would not accept they could be good mother’s despite
of their difficulties and set them up to fail. Too take a kid away from their mother is a horrible
thing but sometimes mothers don’t really know the right way or safe way to raise their kids or
maybe have trouble in a way. This suggest that Mothers are scared to have their kids taken away
they may never see them again since mothers are always protective of their kids having them
Social workers oversee helping parents to find good resources to raise their children in a
healthy way. There has been abused with children since forever children have no way on fighting
for themselves or talk to someone who will believe them. According to Dr. Gonzales (2019) The
abuse of people towards kids has grown over the years since there is more liberty on what people
can do now with their families (pg. 11). Sometimes children don’t really understand if the way
they are being treated is the right way or not. The increase of child abuse is shown in figure 1
which identifies how Arizona is clearly outrage from all the other states. The author suggests
that in order to raise your kids in a healthy manner you must first treat yourself the right way.
Social workers have to better people’s life in a good way not a fake way. The basic start
of a better life starts with just mentally automatically setting your brain to no worries zone.
According to Brown (2015) Her university tutor advised her to “stay positive and keep smiling”.
You will feel incredibly overwhelmed and exhausted at times and doubt your abilities (pg. 1).
Problems come to people when you mentalize yourself you can fix them. You need to commit to
developing yourself on all these aspects and to sustaining yourself through seeking excellent

support and guidance. Look for the best solution to your problem see the negative and positive
effects on your decisions. According to the author most people hesitate over small problems and
Conclusion
UTEP needs a big workshop to aware anyone who is around children for example family
members and friends. The creation of the workshop will help a lot of people to be aware and
understand what child abuse is and what are the risks and transform it to a more global
awareness for example by using media that it can help Canadians and people from Arizona be
aware to recognize the risks. Many students from UTEP will get a small poster with information
of how to know if a child is passing through some face of neglection and how to prevent it. Easy
way to report any type of situation and to whom they should speak with. There would also be
information about what types of child abuse a there exist for example physical abuse, sexual

Figure 1. According to this graph the increase in all states is showing a significant high
amount of child abuse more in Arizona. Oklahoma and road island are almost as the same rate as
Arizona which can be a major problem. According to Richards (2014) The large increase in
Arizona could be due to investigating more reports than other states (pg. 1). The Department of
Health and Human Services are concern of the high increase from 2009 to 2012. In Arizona child
abuse has constantly increased there are many cases that lead to different types of child abuse.
The author suggest that most states are increased child abuse over the past 10 years.

Figure 2. Child abuse has lifelong consequences on victims. According to Hillside (2018)
One in every four children have experience abuse either sexual or neglect, physical or emotional
(pg. 1). There need to be a stop to this ongoing cycle in life for children to not have to grow up
being treated with no respect. Examples of effects would be poor physical health, psychological
issue, impaired brain development. The author suggests more social workers checking on
families.
