A. Design:
1. Manufacturer shall provide preassembled fire barrier in required length

sections that are factory assembled and delivered to the project site ready for
installation as subassemblies or modular assemblies of an entire assembly.
These sections shall be designed so that onsite installation using the related
installation tools is rapid and simple where required. The fire barrier sections
may be connected to form a long fire barrier using manufacture's specially
designed and specified connectors. The resulting fire barriers provide a
reliability continuous barrier for all joints. The preassembled section shall be
preconfigured and marked to provide for simple and correct installation

C. Seismic Requirements:
1. Movement X Axis: 50 percent of nominal.
2. Movement X Axis: 100 percent of nominal.
3. Movement X Axis: __ percent of nominal.
4. Movement Y Axis: 50 percent of nominal.
5. Movement Y Axis: 100 percent of nominal.
6. Movement Y Axis: __ percent of nominal.
7. Movement Z Axis: 50 percent of nominal.
8. Movement Z Axis: 100 percent of nominal.
9. Movement Z Axis: __ percent of nominal.
1.5 SUBMITTALS
C. Shop Drawings: Detailed drawings showing typical joint cross sections and layout
assemblies showing anchorage methods and relationship to adjacent conditions.
Include a schedule indicating model number and location for each fire barrier
modular piece.

1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer Qualifications:
1. All primary products specified in this section will be provided by a single
manufacturer with a minimum of ten years experience.
2. Manufacturer will have a Quality Assurance Manual for the manufacture of fire
barriers listed by a testing and inspection agency in accordance with
standards specified. A qualified testing and inspection agency may be Intertek
Testing Services, UL or FM Research.
3. Manufacturer shall provide installation procedure training to contractors
and/or installers of manufactured fire barriers to ensure fire barrier installation
meets specifications.
4. Manufacturers shall be ISO 9001-2000 Certified with documented
management and control of the processes that influence the quality of its
products and customer service.
a. Manufacturer shall have control of all materials and processes used in
the fabrication or assembly of components that are integrated together
by manufacturer to produce fire barriers and related products.
b. The manufacturer of the fire barriers shall maintain documented
management procedures and documented control processes that
influence the quality of the fire barrier.
c. Each Individual fire barrier is to be labeled with a number that is
traceable to manufacturing quality records and a label that indicates
that the product is certified to meet the specifications included in the
certifying agency's product listing. Any deviations shall be clearly and
boldly noted.
B. Installer Qualifications:
1. All products listed in this section are to be installed by a single installer with
demonstrated experience in installing products of the same type and scope as
specified.
2. Installer shall be insured and licensed as required by agencies within the
project's jurisdiction and acceptable or authorized by the manufacturer.
C. Product Requirements:
1. Expansion Joint Fire Barrier Assemblies: Comply with applicable
requirements of the following standards as applicable: UL 2079, UL 263,
ASTM E 1966 and ASTM E 119.
2. Materials supplied by manufacturer shall be asbestos free.
A. Delivery of the fire barrier and related products (components) to the project site shall
be in the components original containers displaying fully intact and legible labels
identifying component part number, type and size.
C. Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-
based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having

jurisdiction.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS

C. Vertical Application:
1. Product: Fireline 520 WallGuard Fire Barrier as manufactured by Fireline 520
LLC.
2. Vertical fire barrier system. Mirrored fire barrier application that provides
protection from a fire event from either side. Caulking to achieve rating is not

permitted.
3. Fire Resistance Rating (2 inches (51 mm) through 20 inches (508 mm)
opening: 2 hour with 50% Class 4 movement.
4. Fire Resistance Rating (3 inches (76 mm) through 20 inches (508 mm)
opening: 3 hour with 50% Class 4 movement.
5. Fire Resistance Rating (4 inches (102 mm) through 20 inches (508 mm)
opening: 4 hour with 50% Class 4 movement.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 PREPARATION
B. Provide anchorage devices and fasteners to secure joint systems, Provide fasteners
of metal, type, and size to suit type of construction indicated for proper attachment of
systems.
3.2 INSTALLATION
D. Install moisture barrier and drain tubes to provide continuous uninterrupted moisture
flow to drains indicated.
