To begin with, the development of big cities has disturbed the development of young
people in some ways. Nowadays, the overpopulation in major cities leads to the growing
demand of accommodation, traffic. Therefore, government have to prioritize buildings
that can serve the majority of inhabitants over buildings serving a particular group of
age. As a result, cities are lack of room for children-oriented places and they have to
consider computer games as their only leisure pursuit. Thus, many of them are prone to
obesity and eyesight problems. In addition to health issues, young people do not have
chance to take part in team sports and interact with their peers, so they cannot develop
interpersonal skills or even suffer from social isolation.
In order to tackle these problems, both government and families should bear their
responsibilities. In terms of government, they should impose a policy on prioritizing
young generation, which can bring tremendous benefits for the society in the long term.
For example, they should demolish redundant and unnecessary buildings to make way
for safe and spacious playgrounds for children. When it comes to families, parents
should encourage their children to be more physically active by buying some sport
facilities like treadmill so that their children can work out regularly in their own home.
Moreover, parents should spend an adequate amount of time playing with their
children so they can avoid depression due to loneliness.
In conclusion, I believe that the development of cites has interfered with the mental and
physical development of young people. However, there are effective measures that
government and families can take to mitigate these negative effects.
