Task 3

Write a Lesson Reflection using this Form for Every Lesson that you Teach (CLOs 1-6)
You are expected to use support from the academic literature to enhance your reflections.
(N.B. 10 lessons – 3 peer reviewed and 7 MST/MCT are recommended in total)
Unit: living world Sabha Hamad
Lesson: What does a
Student teacher
seed need to grow?

Ms. Zuleika Mohammed Bin Khaled

MST School

Class 3 Date October 30, 2019

Select
What standards or LOs were being addressed in the lesson?
Students will be able to observe the results they got from their experiment.

How did you cater for learners with special needs, and for differentiation?
All they will have several questions related to their experience.
Questions: 1- Which seeds changed? How did they change?
2- Why do you think the seeds change?
3- Did you support your hypothesis?
All students in the group should answer questions about their experiment.

How did you use positive reinforcement? Methods? For what? ? While students were activity, I used
positive words, like good, excellent and good work.

How did you sequence or scaffold activities so that they built gradually towards the learning
objectives? First, the students gained the results of their experiment, then all the group's students
analyzed the results. After that, I gave each student several questions related to the experiment to
answer it and writing their hypothesis of their own.

Overall aim and context of the lesson (that is, describe the lesson’s place in the unit of work.
What did students need to know before today’s LOs were addressed? What topic comes next and
how did today’s lesson prepare students for that? It was a unit about the living world. Students
analyzed their results. In the next lesson, students will learn what scientific methods. Students
have benefited from this lesson in knowing and defining a scientific method.

Describe
Who is the lesson for? The lesson was for third-grade boys and girls.
Where did the lesson take place? The lesson was explained in the science classroom.

What were you aiming to achieve in your lesson? In my lesson, I was aiming to help students
analyze the results of their experiment that they did, in order to know whether the results they
gained support their hypothesis.

What experiences did you provide to the students to help them to achieve your aims for them?
I helped them learn how to analyze the results by presenting an experiment on a smart board to
clarify them and explain how to write a hypothesis that supports the results.
Analyze
Were students excited, always occupied, and remained on task during the lesson?
The students had difficulty in how to relate their hypothesis to the results they gained and
whether or not they supported the results, I tried to explain it in a simple way again.

Why do you think the students responded the way that they did?
The student has a problem in linking the results to the hypothesis they wrote because it was the
first-time students wrote a hypothesis.
How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?

To make sure of students' prior knowledge, I remind them of the hypothesis they wrote, so that
students can analyze the results until it is achieved if the results support their hypothesis.

Appraise
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective.
It was a very great experience. As I learned how to clarify the results
for students, because students had difficulty with the results table that
you requested to hand in, they should complete it within 4 days.
Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Use your students’
performance on the end of lesson assessment as support (Give proof in
your portfolio) No, the lesson did not achieve my educational goal.
Because students had difficulty writing the hypothesis at the end of the
lesson, students were unable to understand how to verify
Hypothesis.
Transform
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future? In the future students can
learn to enhance this lesson, by practice students to write the hypothesis correctly. So they have
no difficulty.

What are the implications for your professional practice of helping students to enhance their
learning in this particular way? (i.e. what skill will you have to develop or learn? What
professional development will you have to undertake?)
Students will be able to see if their result supports their hypothesis.
