MENTAL HEALTH

Maya Hook, Emma Galbraith, Gabriel Bara, and Andrew Mata

You need to take care of your THOUGHTS
AND FEELINGS just like you
do your BODY
Just like when you’re sick…..
You go to the doctor and take steps back to recovery

Like resting, giving yourself time alone, etc.

When you feel SAD, MAD, OR WORRIED

You should take steps to become happy again!
We all can feel SAD, MAD, OR WORRIED sometimes, and it’s OKAY, it
just means we need to take some time to ourselves to make ourselves feel better.

Here’s how you know if you’re feeling SAD, MAD, OR WORRIED

- Get angry easier
- Sleeping more/less
- Have less energy
- Cry easily
- Feel bored with things you like
Try HALT!

Stop and think: Am I…

Hungry?

Angry?

Lonely?

Tired?
Learning to take care of your THOUGHTS and FEELINGS is very
important!

Here are some ways you can do it:

PRACTICING MINDFULNESS

TAKING CARE OF

If you’re still feeling SAD, MAD, OR WORRIED…...
Try spending time with people you love!

Or talking to trusted adults about how you feel!

It might seem scary but we have all felt these ways before and the trusted adult will
probably understand you!
If you feel nervous or anxious talking about your feelings...
DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED!

It’s important to be able to talk about how you feel and to be honest with people when
there is a problem you are facing. You are not alone.

If your friends make fun of you for the problems you face and do not help, they might
be going through something similar -- but don’t feel pressured to be friends with
people who get you down!
A Trusted Adult…..
Listens to you

Cares for you

Makes you feel safe with them

Is patient with you

Helps you

Spends time with you

This can be… a parent, a teacher, an Aunt/Uncle, a Counselor or Doctor, etc…….
