QUESTION 1 [25 Marks]

Figure 1 shows the circuit network consists of FIVE (5) resistors, ONE (1) current source
and TWO (2) voltage sources. Determine the voltage across the R3 resistor using
superposition theorem.

Figure 2 shows a circuit networks that consists of FIVE (5) inductors, FIVE (5) resistors and
ONE (1) AC voltage source. Based on Figure 2,

a) Determine the current I and 12 (in polar form).

QUESTION 3 [25 Marks]

TEN (10) resistors (144 fl) in parallel connection are supplied by a 7200 V and 120 V
transformer as shown in Figure 3.

a) Calculate the turns ratio, n.

b) Calculate the current through the primary winding, I.

c) Calculate the efficiency of the transformer.

d) Determine the coupling coefficient, k, when M =1 pH, L1 =8 pH, and L2 =2 pH.

e) If the secondary winding is only connected to a resistance load 60 f, calculate the new
current through the primary winding, Ii and 12.

f) Describe the isolation transformer and the purpose of isolation transformer.
