SECTION – I ENGLISH

1. (C) In this passage, the author compares the aspects of organizing and
communication between computers and human brains which is similar in
both the cases. Refer to the following line for better illustration:" Furthermore,
brains and computers can both be organized so as to solve problems. The
mode of communication is very similar in both the cases.”

2. (D) In the last line of the passage, the author states that there is no break of
continuity between what is human and what is mechanical. It means that
human and mechanical forms are continuous which is mentioned in D.

3. (B) Before the word "recognize", "by accident" has been used. The author wants to
convey that computers might produce poetry by accident but they cannot
produce the poetry by will because poetry requires emotional height that man
is capable of attaining.

4. (B) The author clearly states that computers compose the poetry by accident
while the mode of communication is same in both the cases.

5. (C) Refer to the following lines:"Far from oppressing the cultured minority, or any
other minorities, democracy gives more of them more scope to have their way
than any other system does." The author clearly mentions that the minorities
are given more voice in a democracy which is mentioned in C.

6. (C) Refer to the following lines:"This is the lesson of experience. It might also have
been derived from an analysis of the concept of democracy, if the concept had
been accurately analyzed." Here the author mentions the proven record of
democracy when he mentions his experience. Option C correctly states the
fact.

7. (D) Refer to the following lines:"It might also have been derived from an analysis of
the concept of democracy, if the concept had been accurately analyzed." Here
the author states that if the concepts of democracy are analysed properly then
its wide scope can be deciphered.

8. (D) Refer to the following lines:"If the more articulate members of a community
formed a coherent and united class with a common interest, democracy would
probably replace in to the rule of that intelligent, educated minority; " Here the
author mentions the present context where the rule is of educated minority
which can be removed by a coherent and united class. Option D mentions this
aspect of the answer.
9. (A) Parallelism, with “one”, “one’s” will be used.
10. (A) Subject verb agreement, focus is on “each”
11. (B) Subject verb agreement, focus is on “none” (which is singular)
12. (C) Subject verb agreement, but in the case of “neither…nor” the subject to be
considered is the closest to the verb.

13. (D) Sentence B follows the first sentence and precedes the rest of the sentences,
especially D which is expanding upon the B sentence.

14. (A) D sentence establishes an advantage that the author, in sentence A, says that,
is not available to the researcher in most cases and thus becomes a
disadvantage.

15. (A) E is ultimately the concluding sentence of the passage looking at the context.

16. (C) This sentence (fourth sentence-D) introduces a new concept (by name) that is
going to be discussed in the following sentences.

17. (B) This sentence (A) contains the term “this idea”, which is in direct reference to
the idea named in the first sentence.

18. (B) After the second sentence, the third one will be E, which is a continuation of
the second sentence, setting up a limitation that is to be solved (at least
hypothetically), which is done in C, by telling how this problem/limitation can
be solved by using the concept of “veil of ignorance”, which is finally described
in B sentence. Thus, B is the last sentence.

19. (B) Privilege fits in most cases.

20. (C) Disaster fits in all cases except B.
21. (D) Other than C, depression fits in all cases. Even in C, it fits as far as meaning
goes, but not grammatically.
22. (B) (a) Option although grammatically correct seems out of context. (c) & (d) are
grammatically incorrect. B is correct.
23. (B)
24. (A) Midas touch means to have a golden touch which means extreme good luck.

25. (A) Smother means to extinguish fire which is what we are looking for.

26. (D) Looking at the context the following part gives the reason for the finding being
exciting.
27. (A) Self Explanatory
28. (A) Although option (c) looks close but looking at the whole sentence and “for
example”, “the” is the better choice.

29. (B) Self Explanatory

30. (A) (b), (c) and (d) options are redundant and repetitive

31. (A) White knuckled handshake means experiencing tense nervousness. Thus, A is
the answer.

32. (A) Ricochet is rebound and getting deflected off of a surface.

33. (D) Res judicata refers to a case that has been previously decided.

SECTION – III LEGAL APTITUDE

71. (B) Freedom of speech includes free speech; ability to express freely and without
any fear. Such a restriction will obstruct the freedom to write and post freely
and merely on the basis of suspicion of possible defamation or incitement
such a practice cannot be adopted. B is right.

72. (B) The principle does not talk about reasonability or un-reasonability of any
action, as long as the action has been passed following proper procedure, the
same is considered valid. In this case, therefore, the order is valid though it
may be unreasonable. B is right.

73. (C) The cause of death was not the act of Militants and therefore they did not
cause death. C is right.

74. (A) As soon as the property has been moved with the intention of taking it, along
with other requirements, theft has been committed. Only Y had the dishonest
intention. It doesn’t matter whether he actually received or benefitted from the
property or not. A is right.

75. (A) The property when thrown, came out of possession by default and was under
noone’s possession at the time when it was moved. Thus, no theft is
committed. A is right.

76. (D) Her liberty is partially violated as she could choose to move in other directions
without any limits and hence no total restraint is caused. D is right.

77. (B) Since she has been confined in her house as exit is not possible outside, it is
wrongful confinement. B is right.

78. (B) It was shopkeepers duty to sell product fairly only after checking thoroughly
here by selling pair of sun glasses on his assurance which were not 3D as a
3D Sun glasses amounts to unfair trade practice. B is right.

79. (B) Shopkeeper after showing the sample of a particular kind of grain sold to
Aaadish grains the bottom of which had some substandard grains, shopkeeper
by passing substandard grains at the bottom of the sack did unfair trade
practice. B is right.

80. (B) Shopkeeper by selling a 4 Star AC instead of a 5 Star AC without informing

the customer commits unfair trade practice. B is right.

81. (B) The exception to the principle says that when compulsory service is for
consideration, it is not an offense. In this case, there is no consideration and
hence he cannot be forced to do the said job. A is not right as the principle
does not talk about consent. Thus, only B is right.

82. (D) For the offense suggested in the principle, there must be either intention to
kill or intention to cause injury that may kill. In any case, knowledge factor is
not being considered. Thus, B is wrong. He clearly had no intention to kill or
cause harm to a person. Thus, he is not liable. A is right.

83. (C) The principle does not provide any exception to the duty to pay maintenance.
Thus, husband’s capability or income is not a factor necessary to consider
under the given principle. That shall not be seen here. He has to pay
maintenance in any or all circumstances without any condition. C is thus
right.

84. (D) The marital status is not an essential condition to be able to take the said
leaves in the principle. It is also not important as to reveal the name of the
person as suggested in option C. Thus, D is most right.

85. (D) Though the acceptance has been communicated but it is not complete as it
has not come to the notice of proposer which is essential to make it complete.
Hence, D is right.

86. (A) There was a contractual duty as provided in principle. A lifeguard at a pool is
under a contractual duty bound to save lives. A is right.

87. (B) Whether a citizen or not, this criterion becomes irrelevant especially when the
state has power to impose restriction in the interest of decency and morality.
Any content which can deprave the minds of people can be banned. Hence,
only B is right.

88. (A) He has not committed a tort as he never persuaded anyone to commit breach
of a contract. He has although prevented a person from being able to perform
his promise, but he did not persuade him to do so. He is not liable for a tort.
There is no principle about theft, thus the same need not be considered. D is
wrong for this reason. Only A is right.

89. (C) The car was taken to garage in the personal capacity as a neighbor. There is
no authority from the owner to do the said act. The car was also not taken in
the ordinary course of nature as it is not within the course of job of a manager
to bring the cars from people for repair. It is a special act beyond the
authorized act. Master is not liable. C is right.

90. (C) The change of facts here does not make any difference. The owner will anyway
not be liable as the act is done in personal capacity having nothing do with the
master’s authority. C is right.

91. (C) The principle three allows restriction on trade “within local limits” only. This
means no prohibition is allowed based on time period but it can only be
permitted on the basis of location. That is not the case here as restriction is
based on time. Moreover, the time period provided is extremely unreasonable.
Thus, the said restriction cannot be allowed. The agreement then becomes
void. C is right.

92. (B) The principle two clarifies that private profits need to be shared. Option D is
suggestive, thus needs to be left. B is right then.

93. (A) Warrant is an order by court. Requisition on the other hand is a mere request.
In this case, mere request was made by a police station. It was not a warrant
without which arrest in the said case could not have been made. The arrest is
illegal. Thus, A is right.

there. Not sufficient time was available to obtain the patient’s consent. If there
is no such time, then rule of necessity applies which gives lawful justification
to doctor to perform the alleged act. He is not liable. C is right.

95. (D) The plaintiff waived his right to claim damages when he chose to watch the
match live just like an ordinary spectator. D is right.

DAYS MOVIE
Monday Lord of the rights
Tuesday Cricket
Wednesday Source Code
Thursday In time

112. (C) The words are broken into 2 equal parts and then the letters are reversed.
Thus IMPRESSION will be ERPNZNOISS.

113. (A) The pattern is

P+1=Q
U–1=T
B+2=D
L–2=J
I+3=L
C–3=Z

Similarly

C + 1 =D
H–1=4
A+2=C
N–2=L
G+3=J
E–3=B

114. (C) The Codes will be

A B C D E F G

right thus, AG3Z.

Hence, he is facing West.

119. (D) Consider the following family tree.

Mother Brother

Girl (-) Boy (-)

Thus, the boy is cousin of the girl.

120. (A) All are the colors of rainbow except pink.

121. (A) All are legal, database websites except https://www.scholar.google.com.

122. (C) All are natural except DAM which are man made.

123. (B) Apply case 13

124. (D) Apply case 3
125. (C) Apply case 2

126. (A) ‘Only if P, then Q’ statements are basically ‘if Q, then P’. ‘If Q then P’, means Q
 P; & ~P  ~Q. So, if teaching standard is not destroyed, the examination
result will not be poor. This is reflected in option (a).

127. (D) ‘If P, then Q’ statement where P = operating system fails; & Q = computer will
not work. So we’re looking for either ‘P  Q’, or ‘~Q  ~P’. The later is
reflected in option (d)

128. (D) Since, it is the only computer in the room means if one takes it the other can’t.
Now, options (a), (b) and (c) make no sense. Option (d) is correct as they
conform to the given statement and that too in the correct sequence.

129. (B) All men are mortal, but Victoria is a woman, then we cannot conclude on the
basis of these two conditions that Victoria is mortal. Thus, it is logically
invalid. Don’t confuse this with ‘logically false’, because to be false, the inverse
has to be true, but here it is uncertain.

130. (A) Straight forward. If all men are chairs, then it follows that any man would also
be a chair including John Dol. Thus, (a).

131. (D) The first sentence is true since it will prevent the disease so you can “avoid”
going to hospital, since it contains the word “all”, second is true, since that is
a reason/motivation to give such an advice. However, we cannot say if
chocolate can cure diseases. Thus, I and II are true but there is no such
option.

132. (A) Second assumption is obvious, since it is stated as it is in the question. First
assumption can be implied in the statement. Refer to the last sentence, it
seems that it is the only strata in which the group did not have a share. Third
is irrelevant.

133. (D) The first is too extreme. Now, the second conclusion is true, because looking at
the context and contrast between the two sentence, second is true, it is an
implication of the two sentences. Third makes no sense. There is no “Only II”
option. So, none of these.

134. (B) The first conclusion is too extreme, it may be true for a few homes (or even
many), but certainly not all. Second and third sentences are basically similar.

135. (B) The third conclusion is too extreme and too particular and too assumptive. If
people failed to turn up for the meeting and one reason was the harvest
season, that is most probably a reference to farmers. Similarly, if people
attended marriages instead of meeting, then second is also true.

136. (C) The “chief reason” creates an unbalance between the two teams, which leads to
the reason that one team has advantage over the other. C option balances out
that advantage, and again brings the two teams on equal footing.

137. (D) From the statement we can conclude that only reported industries can claim
national productivity measures (reporting is not a guarantee, but a pre-
requisite). Thus, those self-employed industrialist companies that can claim
national productivity measures are definitely reported.

138. (A) One quality of a correct assumption is that its negative form weakens the
conclusion, so let’s consider the negative of A option, i.e., The Verbal
Advantage Reading program (VARP) would help the students learn History and
Science, if this is true then that completely breaks the conclusion, i.e., just
reading history and science would not be enough reading practice.

139. (D) Assumption as the MISSING LINK, here the missing link is that the best movie
version of a book is that one, which is closest to the spirit of the novel.

140. (D) Straightforward, the government is imposing greater tax in the reasonable
expectation that there will be greater profits. D is ultimately just a rephrasing
of the last sentence.
