Break-out Plan # 1
Date: October 24, 2019
Break-out Title/Topic: Greatest Common Factor Resources Time
Bridge-in:
 I wanted to take some time for reflection now that midterms are
nearly over. I want us all to rate how good we feel after writing exams
and explain why we would rate it that way.
 We will go around the circle to give everyone time to reflect on one 4
thing they can do differently for final exams. minutes
Pre-Assessment:
 How satisfied are you with your efforts towards midterms? Did you
find that efforts reflect the outcome? If so, how? 2
 What is one tip you would give your past self? minutes
Learning Objective:
 To reflect on our actions and essentially conclude that we can
always change the future, we can take control and improve
 Identify as a group what are the different ways we can individually
improve.
 Get the mentees to develop a sense of unity throughout the 2
potential struggles. minutes
Participatory Activity:
 We will go through everyone in the group to share individual self-
reports before the activity, to record our starting point. 15
 The activity we will do involves the Greatest Common Factor; I will minutes
evenly split the groups into 2 teams. Their task is to find the
greatest common factor between everyone in the group
 The goal here is for them to identify what they have in common,
since I am splitting the groups at random.
 They are to give their team a name they can identify with,
everyone must agree on this. stress ball
 After, they will share with everyone what the common factor is, designated to
and elaborate if there are more. pay attention
 I will ask them if they were shocked to find multiple, or few things to the speaker
they had in common, and what they can infer about engaging with
other people who are under similar circumstances.

Post-Assessment:
- We will take note of self-awareness upon completing the activity and
after completing the activity related to their experience so far, and if
they feel any differences after our activity.
- I hope that they will find everyone struggles with deadlines and full
course loads. However, identifying with peers to work towards the
same goals can make the experience much more enjoyable.

Summary:
- We will reflect as a group about our general initial exam performance
and suggest potential routes for future exams.
- The mentees will also share one new thing they have learned about any of
their peers, or the whole group.
- I will ask mentees to give me suggestions as to how I can be useful for the
remaining of our time together and provide feedback of the methods that 3
haven’t resonated with them as much. minutes
