o I taught teens and adults four days a week and a group of about nine 8-year-olds two days a week.
o For the teens and adults, lessons varied as seen below:
o Teaching hotel-English
o Helping teenagers study for their ILETS exam to study abroad in Canada
o Teaching business-English to Bekaert employees (a steel wire corporation)
o Conversational English based on a particular topic
Farmhand
Seeding, watering, planting, weeding, weeding, weeding! and harvesting 15 acres of vegetables.
Packing CSA boxes and wholesale orders. Caring for poultry- turkeys and chickens.
Co-owner
Front production shift: granola, cookies, bread. Customer service, packaging products, cashiering,
opening and closing duties. Baking shift: cookies, muffins, scones. Delivery shift. General cleaning.
The bakery is an employee owned cooperative. With the nature of such a business structure my
duties and responsibilities went beyond my set weekly shifts: doing the UNFI order, being on the
hiring committee, gardening, etcetera.
Wilderness Volunteer
I worked with a ranger out of Kawishiwi District in the Boundary Waters. Each trip was between 8-12
days long followed by six-days back in town where I would work at the Chocolate Moose and the
Front Porch Coffee Shop. In the woods we maintained portages, dug new latrine holes, checked
campsites (fire grates and pits) and overall trail maintenance and garbage removal.
