Recently, membrane based separation processes particularly electrodialysis has
attracted the attention to separate and purify the organic acids and amino acids
from animal feedstock waste. In this study, Cation exchange membranes were
synthesized by making composite of polyurethane (TPU) and polyaniline (PANI)
with doping of various aromatic sulfonic acids like, ß-naphthol sulfonic acid(ßNSA)
and phenol sulfonic acid (PhSA). Polyaniline was prepared by standard method

which was further used in composite blending with varying concentrations of 10-
20%. The impact of concentration of polyaniline and the nature of dopant on the
membrane characteristics were comparatively studied. Membranes were analyzed
by electric conductivity, water swelling, morphological study (SEM), and
thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis. Membranes were used for the separation of
glycine hydrochloride by electrodialysis.
